Class 2 from bradford to slough and back, when should i have my break?

I only used log books on the Council under domestic regs.

Tachos were in force by the 1980’s to comply with EEC/EU directives and hours regs.

As stated unnecessary breaks, at the wrong time and in the wrong place, can mess up the daily rest period and by definition means less sleep at home regardless.

Didn’t know that an Australia used tachos.Analogue tachos. But same hours regs and much later on speed limiters which wouldn’t allow making up time on the flat lost on the hills or evening and morning traffic.

Daytime running will mean lots more traffic in addition to modern variable speed limits lower than 90 kmh.

To add it’s a lot easier to recover a truck and driver who’s run out of driving time than one who’s run out of hours into the daily rest period. You’ve also got the option to take the extra 45, ‘if’ it’s needed, call it after 3 hours driving, on the return run.

Not enough daily rest, let alone falling asleep at the wheel, because too many breaks extending the shift and taking out the reserve for traffic, and not enough sleep, is a bigger ‘infringement’ than exceeding 4 hours 30 driving time.Been there done that got the T shirt.Feltham Dewsbury Feltham is a close comparison here.

Just seen this , i’m from Bradford and Slough is very touch and go in 9 hours without hold ups.So if you are going 5 nights a week and can keep 56 mph constantly which you cant then its going to be close.Bradford to Leeds is around 20 - 25 mins early morning so you are going to be breaking into a ten with the slightest hold up

And dont forget no speed limiters in those days

I did Feltham-Dewsbury-Feltham with speed limiters. Also Feltham-Charnock Richard-Feltham with a speed limiter in one direction.

Bradford-Leeds-Slough etc and modern traffic conditions, especially if daytime running, all bets are off.Doubt it can be done in 4.30.

Most of the routing options are a traffic basket case at best stay off the M25.M1 or M40 to M4 using M25 will probably often put you over the 10 hours let alone 9.Also Slough is a big place full of traffic lights which take an age stuck on red.

A43 or M69, M40 and 404 would be the default.

But adding more breaks is just going to create a daily rest issue added to a driving time one.But obviously needed by default if using the 10 hours driving time option.
