Class 1 superiority complex

Franglais:
I had a few days in a rigid a while ago. Tried reversing it, and it went the wrong way compared to my artic!
Give those lads extra!

I did a night in a rigid once. I turned left at the lights, and took the turn like I was in an artic. I came face to face with the lights and had to do a little reversing manoeuvre, which was well embarrassing.

Most nights I’ll do 3/4 of my shift in a D/D artic and change to do the final 1/4 in a rigid.

I don’t look up or down at drivers, and give the same courtesy to all whether they be class 1, class 2 or 75t. I’m happy where I am and thats all that matters. There’s enough ■■■■■ on the road as it is without HGV turning on each other

In some ways, artics are easier, you have easier routes and an artic is more maneouverable.
Whenever Im in a class 2,Im glad to be back in an artic

Glad it’s not just me

I got flashed in for my first time last night. [emoji16]
Driving my 7.5T passed an Artic, thanks if it was you [emoji106]

I truly don’t give a monkey’s chuff what type of vehicle I’m driving, nor indeed what anyone else is driving. I am predominantly an agency guy, so not my lorry, not my company, not my load, just a means of earning some cash to do the things I actually want to do.

I’d prefer to drive cars or vans on distance work than any type of truck doing local work.

Yep same. Although I’d be quite happy doing motorcycle courier work on hgv pay.

For me I refuse to drive anything less than a double drive drawbar, being the transport legend I am

youtube.com/watch?v=Y3LWJbvL-38 It was all going so well until 10.10 from then it was all the gear and no idea up to 10.23.Obviously his first attempt after the promotion from the artic.

Alfa1M:
All I will add, and I’ve driven plenty of rigids and you’ll always be flashed back into place after an overtake -yes theirs plenty of bad drivers on the bendys-

BUT…

A large percentage of Class 2’s get ridden around like their transit vans, I often Wonder if the driver forgets their still in a HGV; you’d hope as a fellow trucker you’d receive the understanding of time and space you need to leave a fully laden wagon more so than a Mavis in her Kia Rio…

It can kind of impact the respect some have for the good drivers.

Totally agree. Like ■■■■■■■■■ rigid drivers overtaking actually on a 2 lane roundabout 'cos he is in such a darn hurry. Also cutting in too quick on an overtake.

That’s just another one of those puny artic things.

I’ve always found that the most arrogant drivers would be any unionized drivers with 30+ years seniority that work for say, TNT, or as Tippers, and have had their current job man and boy, unable to consider working anything else before retirement…

The least arrogant drivers - will be those who’ve never worked for a humbling outfit like a private small firm where a ■■■■ up could be the entire business going under, thus “people don’t have ■■■■-ups there”…

Closing Ranks - is easier at a small firm than a large one, I reckon.

Also, another qualification I’d say is a must for the arrogant driver - is to routinely mis-use company kit to get rid of people that call you out, breaking your own rules… An example of this would be using camera footage to get a senior union member off scot-free for something they’ve actually done, but that camera footage is “never available” when a one-person’s-word-against-the-unpopular-bod is upheld, because they cannot prove they didn’t do it, meaning hearsay evidence is enough to bury even the most careful drivers that are somehow less qualified in “Office Politics”…

“Do you have any idea how unpopular you are here?”

is as nasty as discriminating against someone because of their skin colour, religious faith, country of origion, or their full attendence record, if you think about it - and shouldn’t be allowed.

The correct way to deal with any issues that involve “clash of personality” - would be to approach that person, tell them straight what it is they are doing that is making them so unpopular, and then give them a chance to put it right, and thereby “fit in” with the rest of any offended workforce.

On my part, “compliance” has always proven difficult, when the first sign of someone’s discontent with me - is their kniveSSSSS in my back, rather than any kind words being had with me beforehand. :frowning:

“You can get more of what you want - with a kind word and a gun - than just a kind word alone.”

I get £1 per hour more than class 2 drivers of course I’m superior

switchlogic:
Being quite frankly one of this countries finest class one drivers I feel I’m quite within my rights to look down on everyone. You’re all scum in my eyes.
