Sorry for the resurrection, but does this also mean that we can park in the coach bays if the lorry park is full, without fear of being clamped?
Was at Beaconsfield last week and it was chocca block, only one space and that was in the Coach park. I pretended to be a coach, like all the other HGVs and parked up. Pulled one curtain closed and put the kettle on as a Security jobsworth came and knocked on my door and asked if I could park in the Car park in the ‘corner’ cos he had a Coach coming in any minute.
I asked him where do I get a ticked from, “£20 out of the Car Park machine and put in in your windscreen” he said.
There’s no way of putting your Reg in the Ticket machine, so I put it in my Windscreen and took a picture.
Seems to me that you don’t need to buy a ticket as the ANPR is redundant.
Could have saved the Company £20 but I wouldn’t get thanked so bollox
It is free to park in Europe, but some truck stops have barriers to stop the drivers that park and do not eat in the restaurant, they will cook a meal from the side lockers of the trailer, or sit in the back of the trailer if the weather is bad with some table and chairs.
The Portuguese would use the wooden boards from the trailer to lift up the sides of the trailer to make a tent to shelter under in the rain.
A French Rouitier in the Forrest road, South of Bordeaux has barriers, and the lady checks to see you are buying a meal, or you get chucked out.
A secure parking in Lyon has barriers, but the parking next to it is free.

Simply you cant be clamped by any private firm.
I wonder what the police take will be if/when the dodgy private comanies carry on clamping anyway? Presummably, it will be a civil matter and they will refuse to get involved, so the only way you’ll get out will be to pay the charge anyway. Unless you use an angle grinder and cut it off, in whch case they’ll be delighted to do you for criminal damage…

clamping has become a criminal offence so the police must do something about it
