I remember in the '80s, British Leyland fitted metric tyres to Metros and Maxis.When they needed replacing,they were almost impossible to get hold of and when you did find them,they were very expensive.
Those will be them. I think they put them on police cars too,

That’s a blast from the past Highlander. The trusty Austin Maxi. 
My uncle had two of these (not at the same time). They had a proper wooden dash and felt like a limousine to a kid of my age.
Not sure what they were like on reliability (below-par I would guess), but a nice clean car all the same.
