scaniason:
I’m just about to put one in a 2003 TGA, and have a couple of decisions to make:
There is a spare DIN slot just above my head, next to the tacho. If I use this (CB is DIN mounting), is the presence of a transmitter / antenna cable next to the tacho likely to cause any problems?
As long as the antenna is installed properly with a good ground plane and tuned correctly then no.
Does anybody know if there is a suitable 12v feed up there which I can use, or do I need to run one up from the dash area?
Been a long time since I’ve been in one but I think there is.
As for antenna mounting, I’m using a mirror arm mount, as it’s got metal tubular arms
Absolutely the worst place. The arms are not long enough to make a sufficient ground plane. Best idea other than drilling a hole in the roof if its metal is a gutter mount.
I think I should start a business installing CBs in trucks.
Ive got a President Lincoln that I was thinking about putting in a 2006 MAN, any thoughts? I know these radios are well thought of, just wondered if they need any specialist fitting. Cheers.

Good radio… multi mode, just get the best antenna for your budget, just fit it like any other radio, just make sure that the power source you run it from is at least 7 amps as lincolns top out at about 30 watts ssb… good ground for the antenna and your swr reading is low you shouldnt have any problems, best regards, shytalk.
Hey pat do use your factory fitted mounts on yours?? Only asking as got a Cobra 25 other day from flying J slotted it into the space all wired up did a ‘radio test’ on it and the display shows no PTT power or something like that although the meter needle goes off the scale

Is your antenna tuned properly? Have you checked it with a SWR meter?
Dave the Renegade:
A stinger antenna is the best bet for a lorry.Virtually unbreakable and pre tuned with a good performance.
Reasonably priced as well.
Mine’s getting a rough time under the conveyor belts, Dave.

Got one on my transit Nathan. It still works well after several years of being belted around by low branches etc.
Cheers Dave.

It is impossible to do that. Get it checked before it fries your CB.
Spoke to bloke in the cb shop @ Roadking Calgary he informed me it was the frieghtliner set up that was ■■■■■■ According to the book if the RF output is not between 3.3 to 4 watts then it fails
HI all has any one have any images on the connections in the 1din area next to the Tacho im thinking of fitting a cb or a ham radio but will need a few things it will be fitted in a Daf XF on a 71 plate
