Was a stunning bike mate but far outweighed my capability lol. Was a pig to ride at slower speeds. Probably gone up a few quid in value now.
Did you ever get the suspension set up either for fast-road or track biased?
I found this totally transformed my bike’s handling.
Tom Wellington:
I used to have these, the CBR was in grey/charcoal colours, the RZ I imported from Fort Lauderdale:
Nice retro collection there

Bike I miss the most was my Duke. Joys of living at home with Mum when I could afford thingsWas took at TT in unusually good weather lol
I do wish I’d gone the v-twin route. I test rode a ktm RC8R once and it was deceptively fast.

I changed the gearing on the SP which did make it easier. Never bothered with the suspension but probably should have done.

Never rode one of them, always liked them. Always have a soft spot for v twins
Marky-p, for the retro collection, all the lads had the Yamaha DT 50, 125 and 175 bikes but I don’t see them anymore.

Lol yeah. I raced for a bit and then worked as an instructor for Hottrax on their European track days and did a bit for Ron at Donington for a while. Now I drive a truck
Now that is a cool story, nice one mate.
When where you at Ron Haslam? Did a couple of his days at Donnington about 12/13 years back. Really enjoyed them?
That will have been 2008 and 2009. I finished racing in 2010 after a first lap crash at Cartagena in an endurance race snapped various bits. Six months recovery and I tried again, but although I could still ride fast I knew I’d never win again, so if I couldn’t win I didn’t want to do it anymore.
Who needs drugs to get high when you can thrash it out in this beautiful machine, cancel the depression medication doctor.

Fair play to you! Did you ever have the opportunity to do any road racing?
I never did any road racing at all which I kind of regretted. My Australian ex endurance team mate did the TT lots of times and was prepared to finance me to have a go but it never happened. I was big mates with Karl Harris and we must’ve done 200 sneaky laps of the TT together on open roads as practice, but sadly that didn’t end well for him.
Indeed. Yeh I was over there for 2014. Cheers for sharing
This was my Aussie team mate sat on our
Padgetts Blade. Obviously I was taking charge of the champagne after a win. I’ll share trophies but not alcohol
Of course lol
