I don’t know if there is such a thing as an IAM HGV course, but if there was, anyone holding that qualification would be deemed an Advanced HGV Driver.
AFAIK there is, if you pass you get a blue IAM badge.
At our place it is a requirement of their insurance policy that anyone who drives a company vehicle (be it car, ■■■■■■ or lgv) has to have passed their IAM. The company pays for the training.

My ‘car’ insurance for my classic Mini is one of the cheapest going as it’s a specialist policy at £445 full comp with all mods listed and agreed value of £6500
Crikey! That sounds expensive to me.
I insure my Atkinson Borderer, fully comprehensive, with an agreed value of £5000 for only £122 per annum.

I bet my mini goes faster than your Atki though…
If you crashed your Atki into a wall i expect it would be a lot cheaper to repair than if i crashed my mini into one…
Also i dont suppose your Atki is ‘modified’ I cant see you getting a John Cooper tuning kit for it anyway…
I doubt you use your Atki for commuting either do you?
I could get the mini a lot cheaper with limited milage and not for commuting etc. Also if it was standard, it would be about £150 less.
drive accident free for 100,000 miles per year in a 40+ton truck…or 500 miles per year in a pizza van…
and my car does less than the pizza van just so i can go to work but i get charghed a 2hatin fortune
