Can I have a whinge please? I hate my job right now

Before I go any further, can I just warn you that this thread serves no other purpose whatsoever than for me to have a ■■■■ good moan!!!   :unamused:

After much discussion between myself and the better half ( ie. he gave up smoking for 2 days and I caved in…although he more than likely had a point when he called me a pig-headed idiot…and he definately had a point when he said that he was older than me and therefore could out-stubborn me any day of the week… ) I have finally stopped tramping and gone onto local work for the last few weeks before I go on Maternity Leave - I have just over 7 weeks to go until the baby is due, and am working for another 3 weeks after this.

And I hate it. Really HATE it!!!.   :frowning:

Never mind the fact that…

  • I’m basically doing exactly the same work I normally do, just without running away of a night.
  • I’m doing a lot less hours for relatively better money (difficult to explain without boring you…but suffice to say that’s how it works out).
  • I’ve spent the last 2 months whinging about how hard it’s been doing all the things you have to do when you’re tramping when you’re the size of a baby elephant.
  • I can only just get up and down the steps into the truck.
  • I need more sleep at night these days than I get in a whole week when I’m away.
  • I am now struggling to get in and out of our bed at home, never mind the bunk in the wagon (always sleep up top).
  • People keep asking me whether it isn’t time I packed up in my condition.
  • It’s an all round sensible move…

…I still hate it. I can’t get used to being home all the time. Half the week, yes, that I could go with. In fact, that is what I will be going with when I go back in September…and a very nice compromise it will be too. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done my 4-5 nights a week away for the last few years, and am thoroughly looking forward to a “change of gear” (so to speak)…but this is just awful.

I mean, how on earth can anyone get enthusiastic about going to Peterborough again? Or Goole reload Leeds with a Gateshead on the back? Or, worst of all, 2 lots of Blyth reload Jarrow■■?

So my apologies if I edit anyone in anger, or reply with a distinct lack of humour…do me a favour and put it down to culture shock, eh? Or in Rikki’s case, copping it from me. Again.

Ok. Rant over. Feel better now. :sunglasses:

■■■■ good moan!!!

Must be a woman thing…

Ken.

Stop whingeing woman!

Just 'cos you’re pregnant it doesn’t mean you can have a moan when you want!

Right Williamsy, time to stand back and await the verbal abuse :unamused: :unamused:

Three replies, zero sympathy…

Keep hold of the job, because you may not want to go back out on the road when you’ve tipped the nipper, so to speak :open_mouth::wink:. I bet you see things differently in a few months.

lucy:
For obvious reasons, this one has risen to the forefront of my mind recently. When I had my daughter, I had no choice (for both financial and logistical reasons) but to go straight back to 4-5 nights out a week 6 weeks after the birth - and driving weekends after less than a fortnight…one of my saddest memories is of her Dad ringing me up to tell me she had just given her first smile. And where was I? On the A34 in a [zb] lorry.
This time I do have a choice, and by god I’m going to take it.

I do believe you two are made for each other.

(They all said that when I had my daughter…two tramping years ago… )

I was just thinking the other day that after the summer I might give up the nights out. I’m getting a bit miffed with not doing all the things I should be. Hobbies, seeing friends, etc etc. But reading your post reminded me of the last time I ent for 3 weeks without a night out. I hated it. Doing the same runs day in day out drove me nuts. My sympathys on that one.

However struggling cos you’re preggers, well thats your own fault innit? Well maybe Rikki’s too. So no sympathy there I’m afraid.

Just think of the fun you are going to have when the baby is born :sunglasses:

i hated my job when the leg handle snapped off and i was left in southampton with the legs halfway up and no means of getting them back up until a fitter arrived to replace the handle …

WHICH TOOK 2 HOURS

No sorry simon it takes two unless you are the holy ghost.,so that idea will not work.

LUCY try to thinkof the positive side and that is rick will have to take a more active part when the young bundle is there so let him be the one to rise at the wonderful hours early in the morning as and when required,
