Modern Landrovers have cameras all around them activated all the time. Comes under section C, so is not illegal.
The law is there to stop watching a DVD, not increase your vision around your vehicle.

I’ve got a rear facing camera that’s on all the time, not just when reversing. It’s very useful, even when going forwards. Is it illegal? From the laws I have read = yes it is illegal…
Would it not be picked up on an MoT?

that’s what I said.
Mind in saying that your car could still pass an MOT even if the speedo didn’t work even though if caught on the road its an offence think it still stands now that’s crazy

Ah, so you did so you did.
I like em, its good to see how close you are to things when you are backing up.

I was stopped at a stop check more than a few years ago when on the ash carts and when they came to speak to me …the dot guys (or whatever they are called now)mentioned my rearview camera was on… and what I was told when working /going between pickups (country run) its ok BUT when loaded and on the way to tip not ok.
The bulk of our rigids had reverse cameras on and the monitor, which was fitted in the middle of the overhead bins stayed on permanent…used it as an extra mirror unless actually reversing…delivering into town centres you could back right up onto a cars bumper ( then lower the tail lift to within inches of his bonnet and block 'em in proper tight if they were in the loading bay and watch the driver flash his lights and lean on the horn when getting close…I suppose that was an early parking sensor thingy, as the closer you got, the quicker they hit the horn!!

I have to watch my tailswing, a rear camera would help a lot.

I too have a permanently active rearward facing camera.I wouldn’t be without it, it can make up for a distinct lack of talent.
Isnt that four camera view thing part of that London scheme FORS or something, as few wagons ive driven stickered up with it all have had the cameras.

Got 6 mirrors on my unit, standard these days, I’ve never yet seen my moffet in em!
i see no reason why a screen continuously showing the rear view could be illegal, surely the rear of the vehicle is adjacent to it?
(c) to assist the driver to see the road adjacent to the vehicle,
If your rear axle is up the swing is way more pronounced, just do not cut into a corner to early if you have obstructions on your offside as your swing will catch them.
The key is remembering if your axle is lifted, that said even with my Axle down I have to be conscious of the swing as my old girl still has big bum
knowing your back end is key

I was convinced when I started my current job, that I would continuously wiping stuff out with my ample derriere! She has a Manitou and a rear steering axle as well which took some getting used to.
Consequently I was straddling lanes at junctions even if it looked ok, just to be on the safe side
18 months on I’m getting better. But not much.
