Cadogan & Tate warning

anon84679660:
Some time ago, someone posted here a job available for lorry drivers at Cadogan & Tate.
I sent them a CV one evening, the next day to my astonishement I got a reply inviting me for a job interview ( bear in mind I’m a newly qualified Class 2 driver, so you can immagine how excited I was about it)
I went there to their Park Royal depot, and yes the sign is there by the main gate entry, but when I got to speak to the right man, I was told driving a lorry was about 5% of the time spent at work the rest was moving stuff up and down the stairs.
Despite me being eager and willing to take any driving job being offered to me, I happily declined this “opportunity”.
Pitty they didn’t tell me this when they replied to me and invited me for the interview.
After all I applied for a driving job not a porter’s job

Never mind Cadogan & Tate warning more like naive newbee warning. :unamused:

From this comment alone “eager and willing to take any driving job being offered to me, I happily declined this “opportunity”.” Mr anon84679660 would appear to be long on expectation and short on guile. Oh well he’ll learn, and give some entertainment along the way.

Bring back Boss & Driver I say. Much better quality.

You’re getting some flak here mainly because of the way you titled the thread “Cadogan & Tate warning”, driving for any removals company is going to involve a lot of work that isn’t driving, in fact although I’ve never done removals I’d go as far as say that working for a removals company will usually involve far more none driving work than driving work.
It seems you underestimated how much none driving work would be involved in the job you applied for then decided to give the company a bad name because of your own misjudgement.

I don’t know anything about Cadogan & Tate but as far as the amount of driving required is concerned I doubt they are any different to any other removals company.

Learn from it and move on, but don’t blame the company for something that should have been obvious to you had you stopped and given the job more thought.

3. If anyone in here thinks that was such a wonderfull opportunity I missed I’m happy to let to you know the exact address so you could rush there and join the que of equaly desperate drivers ( sorry porters not drivers with some driving features added).
Oh, by the way there isn’t any que waiting to get this job, you relax, finish your breakfast, lunch , dinner, before applying for it. I’m pretty sure C&T is still looking.

I only drive 5% of the time…me no understand.

mucker85:
Is this guy serious? It has to be a wind up!

Im with you mucker.
regards dave.

I saw the sign and posted the job on Trucknet, blame the Tobester, the sign does say drivers, but does not mention what class of driver, ie class one to three,at Cadogan and Tate, they seem to be doing well, the yard is always busy when i go past, and plenty of container trucks going in and out.

My first job in road transport was as a porter for a removals company.

It was hard work, but also great fun…with some unexpected bonuses!

You’ve missed out.

Best of luck finding a job where you don’t actually have to do anything. Most people have to work for a living, you know.

Same here, started with White & Co at Winchester and then Pickfords in Basingstoke, was hard work but a good laugh :sunglasses:
Oh, I don’t work for a living, I drive a coach - drive from A to B sit for a few hours then back to B, but might not suit the OP :unamused:

Anyone with a quarter of a brain cell would know cadagon tate do removals. And why the hell would you apply for a job without checking who the firm is first. Maybe you should try being a bus driver mate

Thanks for the warning, op.

the A and B are in the same place as any laptop :stuck_out_tongue:

This internet thingy is fantastic, I typed Cadogan Tate into a thingy called Google and amazingly it came up with a blue coloured line that began “Cadogan Tate Removals London…” from that I deduced that they are a removals company and from that I deduced that although they need a driver that driver would most likely be involved in removal of things like furniture.

FFS when I first started out I had enough sense to realise that working on refuse lorries might involve getting down & dirty with refuse, and most lorry work might involve getting out of the cab occasionally.

Maybe I should’ve started a thread titled Kirklees Council Warning…

edit: I didn’t see the other post

I applied for a night trunk driving job, but i had to turn it down as i could not :unamused: wear my Rayban sunglasses at night.

Oh dear , and its queue by the way , nothing wrong with removals my friend , get off the beaten track a bit , hard work granted but its a good giggle if you get with some good lads !!! maybe you should look at another career and leave the grafters to crack on .

As daft as the agency mate who turned at my work and didn’t want to handball. What did he think he was going to do, navigate and fanny watch (I can do that myself!)
