In my opinion the wording of your post, especially paragraph 3, says to me that you have a problem with Polish drivers. I don’t see a rant anywhere else in the post about any other nationality .
Hence the reason why I had made the suggestion that you are being racist against Polish drivers.
The Poles must be on a decent wage, i was in Erith tue evening talking to a lad, he told me he had just got a £150.000 mortgage ! A Turners lad also asked him if he took a class 1 test and he said yes but in Poland, he had 48 hours instruction before the test.
As for the reversing problems dont forget they are still getting to grips with a right ■■■■■■ and many of them may not catch on too fast, the paperwork issue and not wanting to pull off the bay is proberly a Freshlinc induced thing.
But overall all those Poles that iv’e talked to seem to be ok lads just trying to earn a living and a better life, at least they are not coming over here with their own trucks pinching the work of UK firms or scrounging off the state.
The bottom line is H&S and if any driver from where ever can not read read them at the drop point they should not be allowed in,and as for the poles well it is not just them, wincantons (woolies rochdale and tesco statehill)have drivers fron other eastern european countries from the agencies and that the guys in charge of transport at the depts go on “jollies” to the countries from where the drivers come from at the expence of the agency I wish I know what backseech meant
So what? Everything in your post says you have a problem with anyone of a Polish origin … racist ?
I don’t understand what all the fuss is about ■■
You’re kidding right? I guess you’ve never gone to a food factory where most of the people you meet speak no english and you’re trying to explain something to them such as what you’ve got on. I go to places where alot of the workers are Polish. A couple of them are very tight yards where you need someone to watch you reverse as its blindside and into a very small gap, steering around obstacles. You want to try and get a Pole to understand what you want them to do.
And what about Polish forkies? Will the non english speaking ones understand “stop, you’re crushing me” when something goes wrong?
laybybobb:
Krankee, I never accused you of being a racist.

Oh you’re one of THOSE. Won’t actually come out and say you think someone is racist outright but instead try and fudge around it.
I can remember the first time i went to france, couldn’t understand a bloody word they where saying, didnt know what they wonted me to do.Thats the problem other countries are full of bloody foreigners

Worlds never been the same since we stopped running it!

Like i said earlier about tlbury docks, they are getting sick off having to spend so much time explaining things to these lads, and they still dont understand, and that must go for health and safety notices aswell.
Me I have a problem with the polish , I have seen British people loose money on the fact that polish and other east europeans are working in jobs that British people would gladly fill , the fact that many are not drivers but just have a licence doesnt seem to matter , as long as they will put their arse on the seat and get a truck out the yard for peanuts is all that counts these days
two year experience no longer required if your not British.

I find this hard to believe about the mortgage and perhaps the driver was so pony and trap he needed 48 hours to pass a east european test
As my boss has now extended our term of work instead of pulling us out of a east anglian cold store I will continue to not offer sandwichs , tea , coffee or help with reversing , which by the way 95% of the company drivers do not offer as well, to the band of east european “drivers” but when asked for directions I will give the east european slack jawed “me not understand shrug of the shoulders”
The one cloud on the horizon is that apparantly the east anglian cold store is cutting the number of east europeans they are using due to the number of speeding tickets being issued to the poles and they are fearful of unwanted attention from the ministry who will now start to question why a certain company is suddenly recieving so many fixed penalty fines to polish names
So dear ole laybybob please feel free to call me whatever you wish
There was an interesting story in one of this months trucking mags about a chap doing alast run for Astrans and he summed up perfectly the east europeans
i delivered to a builders merchants last week. the two forkies unloading me were both poles.
the one that spoke english was very polite, he even called me sir
he went on to say that being a truck driver was a highly regarded position in his native land. then he started asking me questions on my job and wages etc.
i asked him if he had a hgv licence, and he said no. but if he wanted one he could get one very easilly back home.
the other one who could speak no english seemed nice enough, and got on with the builders well. they were all poles.
just to add i do not have a real problem with people coming here to find work.
uk peple emmigrate all the time to better themselves. uk people have worked in europe for years.
if my kid was lying in hospital and a foreign doctor was treating them i would still be grateful.
so what if tescos have taken on x amount of drivers. would you work for tesco.
if you did not live near a tesco depot would you move house so you could work for them.
I had some fun trying to get Polish Builders to understand that I was even trying to deliver stuff, when I delivered for a Plumbers Merchant round West London. I always find there is usually a ratio of one who speaks almost perfect English to about five more who can’t speak a word.
SuffolkReeferBoy, the problem is one that will from at first being a money
saveing venture turn into an accountants worst nightmare, and also for
the transport managers they will find that also a what was a nice safe
relaxing job is now a nightmare with horrible consequences due to
how often the VOSA;HSE: etc , Not forgetting that the locals are now complaining more often to the local newspaper.
How do you break a poles finger
Hit him in the nose
PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT CONDONE ANY SORT OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST ANY PERSON , EVEN IF THEY ARE POLISH.
THE ABOVE JOKE COULD BE ADAPTED TO ANY PERSON EVEN SOMEONE FROM SUFFOLK.
