You do know that if Russia moved the life expectancy of the BAOR was measured in weeks if not days.A force far larger than anything we’ve got now.That was just on a front across west Germany.
I’m sure if they’d have been ordered to advance into Ukraine to stop ‘em there the biggest danger would have been incapacitated by uncontrolled laughter and disbelief of the order.That would just have been the logistics personnel let alone those on the front line marching East.

The strong USSR army that might have been capable of sweeping across much of Europe in the 80’s changed into a rusty, under funded army running on perished rubber tyres, that collapsed before it was halfway to Kyiv.
The world order has changed. Under Trump the US is not a friend to trust. Russia was moving towards the west in the 90’s, and we had a peace dividend that enabled less to be spent on defence, but that too has changed direction under Putain.
What you learned about in school is not the world we live in today.
The USA is not a close ally, 7litre pushrod engines for cars, and crash boxes for trucks are not the norm any more.

This time he is getting much closer to sending US troops to invade Venezuela.
The guy who fought an election saying he would bring US home from overseas seems about to start a fresh boots-on-the-ground operation.
Just like his hero Putain he will try to dress it up as something else but he is after regime change in another country.
Don’t get me wrong, Pres Maduro is probably in post through election fraud, and should be removed, but Trump is not concerned with justice and democracy here. He is after installing some sort of leadership that he hopes will be beholden to him…and to US oil companies.
The US does have a powerful military but that didn’t help them too much in Afghanistan nor in in Vietnam. Fighter jets and tanks don’t work that well against guerillas wearing flip-plops, especially if you want to keep the oil wells working, and note that the US does want Venezuelan oil, and might like to stop oil going to China.
