And a note for @cooper1203 Asylum seekers receive Gov housing and food if they have no means to support themselves. If they have money, from a legal job for example, they will receive no tax payer money. They will pay tax and NI just like the rest of us.

Is spending money to get people fit and back to work a good idea? I think it is. The NHS waiting list is a guide to how well workers are treated. Look at the graph. Look at the dates.
Tell me which Govs are getting waiting times down? Which govs are not only doing good for the health and happiness of their citizens, but also getting a fitter workforce? NHS backlog data analysis
Are there skivers and freeloaders out there? Yes there are.
Is everyone out of work a feckless individual? No.
