Don’t worry Tonka. I know to be careful of chatlines/truckies-my late grandfather had a haulage business. My dad thought that it was hillarious (as a boy) to go trucking with him and watch him shout comments at young women from the cab ‘hello baby, howz mummy’ being the favourite
That’ll be OK provided you have not got a wife who makes you change down to your underwear on the doorstep because you are dirty from lifting cargo (at 2am in the snow). Very houseproud Gran who gave him as good as he got LOL
LauraLiz1982:
My provisonal entitlement is C1 03/08/02-30/09/27
So I think that is boo hoo then, new medical required
I called DVLA medical to make make certain - and yes - you do need to do another medical for C provisional
Remember to tick D as well when you apply for C provisional - It’s FREE to do that and if at any time in the future you want to go for your PCV licence then the medical(s) counts for both

Oh no I called them too and they said the opposite. Crikey. Thanks for helping any way

Rog
I will call you but I am almost certain that we have had customers with C1 provisional add C without a medical to a one they have had over two years.
Now I could be wrong but some thing stored in the old grey matter says I can’t add a D that far on but I can add a C stupid I know can we try to get it in writing?
To reconfirm I called DVLA again
They stated the same as the first time
A medical is valid for 12 months in respect to getting any thing else added to it.
If a medical is taken for C1 provisional only then to add C provisional after 12 months would need a new medical
I asked the DVLA chap if this had always been the case and he said yes for the 7 or 8 years he had been working there but was not sure about before that
He also said to tick all the possible provisional entitlements so that the medical would cover the lot
Perhaps some people at the DVLA are mistakenly adding the C without a medical as they’re both goods vehicles whereas D is a different category altogether? I suppose the OP could chance it and send the form in without a medical
Sorry to cause further problems but I now have a letter from the DVLA saying that I can have category C without another medical. They have seen my licence number and looked it up. No kidding. Well I am going to submit my application for category C on the basis of the letter. Good wishes, Laura
