ezydriver:
I can see that his straps kept his load in.

They did actually it was when they lifted everything went wrong and caused the damage :unamused:

Nothing ever goes wrong with straps. They secure everything. Always.

Straps - are useful on many occasions, some for the load, but i use one to hold my trousers up, admittedly i did have to cut it, but it fits fine, cant bend much because of the buckle and ratchet, but i wont get done for indecent exposure.

The Original post !! some suggest the driver should have been hung…others suggest the punishment fitted the crime, i think the latter for what its worth. He hurt his back, his neck and his pride, also his joy, yes we have all had a misjudgement at sometime, whether looking at a delivery note, or a map, or even on the phone ( god forbid ) but a lack of concentration in this instance caused a few headaches, and heartaches, the important thing is everybody survived to tell the tale, he never hit a coach, minibus or a car with kids in, so a few points, a fine, and job done…well done the judge for seeing sense. and hope the driver makes a speedy recovery.

shugg:
Just think if the other vehicle had be a coach filled with school children !!! .

Why is it when ever an accident occurs its always what if!

You hear it all the time for instance when a vehicle crashes into someone’s house you can guarantee they always say if it had happened a few seconds later i would have been sat in that chair in the window and killed.

Yeh right well it didn’t and you wasn’t.

If my Aunt had balls she would have been my Uncle!

I don’t think his load was strapped,if it had, his load wouldn’t be scattered all over the motorway.

I think the driver in question should have had a 2 yr ban, fined at least £1000 + court cost and be made to take his HGV test again.
He could have killed someone or many people in this accident.

But he didn’t. And people aren’t generally punished because of what might have happened but didn’t. Otherwise everybody given a Fixed Penalty Notice for being 5 mph over the speed limit should be given a two year ban and a £1,000 fine. After all, they could have killed someone. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Good grief! :unamused: When I ran up the rear end of a truck in a thunderstorm at Hilliards Cross on the A38 20+ years ago I COULD have killed any motorcyclist riding between us, HOWEVER there wasn’t one so all I had was cracked front panel and a bruised ego. We have all sailed close to the wind, mostly you get away with it but sometimes you don’t and if God is on your side you live to fight another day and take extra care. Just my five pennorth, but then I’m not in the job anymore.

Pete.

BUT HE ■■■■■■■ DIDN’T KILL ANYONE!!! The only person harmed was himself - if he had died would all you Holy Joes be saying “good enough for him - he deserved it!”■■?
Actually, some of you probably would :unamused:

That’s not necessarily true … any load restraining device is designed to secure the load under normal operating conditions. The truck bouncing down the motorway rubber side up doesn’t count as normal operating conditions.

the sarge is right he didn’t kill anyone it must be great to be perfect and not ever make a mista ke he put his hands up fair play to him he seems a decent bloke and remember if is a big word if it was you how would you be feelingregards Rowland

And I bet he’s now a better more attentive driver, because of this incident, he’s taken full responsibility for it, hasn’t tried to blame this and blame that, he’s must have played back that day and analysed it a million times since then, so why ban somebody who I’m sure would have learned a lesson from this.

Yes. He’ll probably always have random flashbacks. I think we know all that needs to be known about him as a driver from the fact the company has kept him on. Some companies see you as more than just a payroll number and a spreadsheet of figures. I work for one and so does he it seems.

If he had driven for stobarts you ■■■■■ would have crucified him from the off.

also a lot of love for him. The special boy with the pretty wagon.

I dont see any love. Just a few opinions about his accident and convictions and the rights and wrongs. No one called him special. That’s a big old chip you have on that shoulder. You don’t have to compare everything to Stobart.

Sorry Oh great one. I’m wrong you’re right.

That was easy. Try not to do it again, there’s a good boy
