Brushes

Right there is probably a logical explination for this but driving round the M60 today I saw two units, two diffrent firms but both had yard brushes stapped on the outside of the vehicle, next to the suzzies. What do you need a yard brush for? Shouild I rush out and get one?

Bit of Fairy liquid on the wet brush-head - great for washing your cab, especially the windscreen! Don’t buy a brush with bristles that are too hard - a soft floor-brush is better!

if you ever carry bricks ect you need to sweep the bed befor you pull of site as if your leftovers are blowing of the back you could be charged with having a dangerous load (according to the jewsons training i had a few weeks ago)

:bulb: or alternatively -

The brush would be for ‘sweeping the deck’ of the flat or low loader type of trailer, after unloading logs, bagged powder (oops - split bag :frowning: ) or concrete blocks, etc.
Can also be used to brush the messy floor of a box / curtainside type trailer that you have just picked up of course.
A pump truck is always easier to maenouvre across an obstruction free floor as well.

The Police can and will pull you if they see a ‘dust storm’ flying off the back of an empty trailer. - (insecure load ) :unamused:

More realistically, if you are planning to carry reels - or oversized bog-rolls as Malc calls them - then you need to have an ultra-clean bed to load them on and a brush does an excellent job of sweeping the floor of your trailer.

Personally, I don’t carry one as I use the one (usually) provided at the reel loading place to sweep the deck. Tilbury docks are very keen on you bringing your own brush to sweep the deck before loading reels otherwise they spit their dummy out at you. :open_mouth:

brushes = sweep up mess on any trl or vehicle

We use a lot of stand trailers, so every trailer has to be cleaned out, checked and sealed before swapping them.

A brush is more comfortable then using your tongue

If you’re doing ADR work, your meant to carry a brush and shovel with you, to clear up small spillages ect.

well done paul you beat me to it as regards ADR work, answer,
