It was not uncommon for those FH Volvos to have fuel pump problems.
They are only a small gear type lift pump, they used to shear the teeth on the gears and would stop altogether or run like a bag of crap.

I must say that when I worked for Expo Freight we were never short of spares when we shipped out.
Besides the usual fan belts, light bulbs and fuel filters,we would have wheel bearings, prop shaft u/j’s,injectors and pipes, wheel studs and plenty of other items.
Unfortunately, for the breakdown I had in my earlier post,we did not carry a spare cylinder head.

Still working on my tome, trying to stay alive long enough to finish it.
Well fancy not carrying a spare cylinder head and perhaps a piston or 2 as well, really looking forward to your book Ian,all things come to those who wait!!!

On several occasions whilst cleaning the the pre filter on a Scania in the cold/rain/snow, middle of the night etc etc I managed to drop and smash the glass bowl, I managed to effect a simple repair by using the small white round front marker light lens, leaving the filter out and cutting a small piece of timber to act as a spacer between the lens and adjuster nut!
