By the way, i have just got in from the pub, so i hope my reply makes sense

Ā£70 per day!!!
I personally wouldnt even consider getting out of bed for less than at LEAST £100 per day. If your dad is one of a dying breed, and is a British driver that knows his way around Europe, (of which there seems to be fewer and fewer)he will know he is worth a LOT more than £70 a day.
And i dont mean any disrespect to the UK drivers when i say that, its basically a matter of if you want to be away for 1 night or 20 nights on the trot.
Me personally, i have got no problem in being away for a month at a time, thats MY choice, not some GIT who thinks he knows whats best for me.
As for Eastern Europen Robinhood, David Croombe from Sheerness still do it, but you will have a job to speak English with their drivers as i dont think any of em speak it
Good luck to your dad in whatever he decides to do anyway
Can I take it that Carr Brothers pay Ā£100 per day then? Iāve personally never heard of any company paying that on continental before atleast not around here anyway and until recently there were dozens to choose from.
brit pete:
YES they do a lot of tanker work and as far as I know its still in the
hands of british drivers.also they do a lot of tilt and fridge work which
does take them that way as well, i am trying to recall more names and
there are enough english firms that go to the places you have mentioned but now days due to the risk of the cheaper bid for the job
many firms have explained to their drivers why they should keep āMUMā
about the work they do, there is a firm which does Romania with erf,s
but the name escapes me at this moement.
Eddies from Scunthorpe yes I have seen their lorrys, on the road.
Another firm is PETER BLAKES this is a tanker firm and they go any
where as well if the customer is paying.some one who goes to the east as well is PAUL BINNS yes him with the worlds best truck a FORD
TRANSCONTINENTAL; HE WAS IN Hungary last month picking up a
trailer with two SK mercs and took them back to GB:
yes the firm with erfs is britania they do hanging garments to/from romania i don,t know but i think now all roms all best egg sorry it is bianca
Yes Robinhood you can. My last job paid £7 per hour, and £10 per hour after 40 hrs, with £25 a night out, and that was doing continental. Quite a rareity i beleive to be on continental work and getting paid by the hour.

Not bad for some then! In your last job when you got hourly pay, what was the situation when you were weekended and didnāt actually drive for one or more days but were still away at work? I know some companies try and shaft the drivers on that and not pay anything, or pay only a night out sum for a weekended day.
My boss was as good as gold mate, for a weekend out i got £100. So if i had a decent week and weekend out on top of that, i could take home over £600. Average take home Sunday to Friday was around the £500 mark, 100% legal as well.

Sounds like you were on a good thing then, but one which could obviously never last in todays Europe of E.European hauliers working for under 50p per mile and paying drivers less than a quarter of your wage.
Fruit of the Loom factories in Derry and Buncrana? are now both closed regards derek
My dad loaded a trailer in Nantwich (or was it Northwich) on Tuesday for Kazakhstan, though he only took it as far as Hull docks.
I spoke to my mate who worked for John Mann today, and they still use British drivers on the Morocco run. Itās not hard to get a job there either, apparently.
I never fancied it myself, and I know the drivers get a lot of grief from locals, but it;'s there for anyone who wants it.

Sounds interesting mate, I wonder if theyād employ a 21 year old though?!?! Wouldnāt it be somewhat silly if John Mann could insure a 21 year old driver for whats possible the most dangerous regular run out of Britain, yet Tescoās wouldnāt do the same for their tame work.
