hiya,
Chris have actually seen Lowery at work and it was exactly as in the words of the song, rough draft on site finished painting in his studio, i have a rather nice print of his on the chimney breast, cost my daughter a lot of money and i guess you are right i would get lost in M/C bit like Sheffield all altered, spent a working career finding my way around these places then the minute my backās turned they chop and change it all, definitely not resurrecting the old class one be no use would keep getting lost and the one time i used sat-nav i finished up in a farmyard, i think iāll stay a landlubber.
thanks harry long retired.
I found just the wagon for you Harry, you could double shift it with Norman on the rock salt job out of Winsford.

Only local drops though
Hi Chris,
Thats a diddy little Foden Alpha, must have been a tractor unit in its former life, someone this way ran a six wheeler in that form, everyone refered to it as a five wheeler.
Cheers Dave.

Be handy with a big CAT or ā ā ā ā ā ā ā in Dave just to compete with your pal with the 6-legger Scania tipper
Might have a 5th wheel tucked underneath,if so would be ideal for tight spots and big drops, just need a bulker for it.Maybe Ray knows of one in Ancoats⦠
Hi Chris,
The one this way was plated at 23 ton gross, with that lift axle,it was a Volvo FM7,it ran out of tarmacās Strinds/Dolyhir quarries, owned by another Ray surname Lloyd,he didnāt keep it long, wasnāt really fish nor fowl.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Fill the box with lead shot and it would make a canny ballast tractor, but i donāt want to drive it could also serve as a push motor on heavy stuff, and that jobās about as exciting as watching paint dry, did the job a couple of times in the late sixties and had the game on staying awake it was the second man who needed the knotted rope those times.
thanks harry long retired.
See that Dave, give a motor to drive, the trouble with Harry, he is too fussy, since he has retired, all he wants to do, is drive his wife sily, that is why she will not stop working, she must think if I have to stay at home, and look after Harry the old man, I just might as stay at work, and take care of the old folks, and get paid for it

hiya
Thats not a motor Norm, itās a concoction neither something or nothing iāll lay Lincoln odds thereās a fifth wheel under that silly box, expose that find me a tidy tri-axle and iāll have a good shot at making a few bob with it but no cleaning definitely no cleaning.
thanks harry long retired.
hiya,
Only when the caravanās hooked on Norm, iāve a job to bend in the middle these days though, would need a crane to get in the shed, happy and prosperous new year to you and yourās friend.
thanks harry long retired.
Happy New year to all red and rusters as weel as everyone on this site

hiya,
Happy and Prosperous New Year to everybody.

Aye,a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to all our readers
Happy New Year to all you red ānā rusters - still the funniest thread on Truck Net.
Thereās a wee discussion going on at Stravaigerās Jottings thread about London Scottish in the fifties. Anybody know if the BRS had a depot in Clyde St or Armour Street, Glasgow? Iām trying to find out if London Scottish continued as a seperate operation after the war, or if it became BRS but was still referred to by the drivers as āLondon Scottishā. Thereās a nice pic over there of an old Albion in BRS colours with London Scottish on the side like a depot name - but thereās also pictures of other wagons in London Scottish colours. Anybody know?
Best for 2010!

London & Scottish Transport Ltd was started in April 1938 with a base at Falkirk Road, Larbert, Stirlingshire, later moving to Clyde Street and Armour Street Glasgow before being nationalised into BRS
That was too early for me, I was not born until 1937, and did not join the red & rust until 1972, but I did use the Brs depot in Glasgow a few times, even if it was only to fuel up, a couple of times I took up JCBās from uttoxceter, and collected a few back loads.
Cheers Sandman - flatmanās put me right.
I remember the BRS depots in Lister Street and Dixonās Blazes, but Clyde St and Armour St donāt ring any bells.
Guess they were before my time tooā¦
