Harry and Norman will remember those Dave, even I drove one now and again
Anyroad,I think you are spoiling the pair of 'em with that Beaver, this is more their cup of tea.

Dave the Renegade:

Hi Harry,
Not a red and rust moter, thought I would post this,to get Norman back from thinking about his mispent youth.
Cheers Dave

hiya,
Dave always had a soft spot for that model of Leyland, haven’t seen Queensgate around for years used to see them regularly when living in the North West, drove one like that for Ridings’s they was a dependable motor.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry & Chris,
Didn’t drive one with that cab, drove a Dodge with that LAD cab,the Leylands I drove had the ergnomatic cab, like the one on my avatar.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave only ever did a bit in a Leyland ergo two pedal thing it was nightmare when on steep banks downwards direction especially when unit only, daren’t go near the brakes, it was all over the road just pleased i never did journey work with the thing.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
The one’s I drove were rigids,a bit under powered, but in those days a nice lorry with a big screen, the Bison’s that came later with that cab had plenty of power, nothing compared to nowadays though,as we have sais its a different world now, except for the roads, they are rougher than ever, due to the lack of money spent on them.
Cheers Dave.

Dave, nothing wrong with the Leylands as long as you have a toolbox, and know how to fix them! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:     :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Hi Norman,
I could change wheels on the side of the road, carried an adjustable spanner a screwdriver and a pair of pliers, thats about all, except for the all important pocket knife, left the rest to the fitters.
Cheers Dave.

DAve, I have got to the age, that I do not like to get my hands dirty, and the cars have got too computorised, I leave it to the AA and my mechanic, I have retired totally. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I have always been fairly fortunate with my own vehicles Norman, most have been new,or just a couple of years old. Same as you I’m in the AA,also got a good mechanic, and keep my vehicles well maintained, oil and filter changed regularly.also air and fuel filters changed often as well,as mine are diesel. Got a transit outside, done 240,000 miles, never used oil,my sprinter has only done 65,000 thats the same. Also been lucky with most of them.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Must have blue blood i’m with the RAC, commoners.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
Didn’t know anyone on trucknet with blood, thought they all had diesel in their veins.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Only the ones who lived in their motors and spent all their spare time polishing had diesel for blood us proper drivers who went to a proper bed after work had blood and if you was a red and ruster that would be blue, i am sitting here now awaiting loads of abuse but at pushing age 74 and ready for the knackers yard i can take it on the chin and could’nt care less.
thanks harry long retired.

Harry, just think, if you had been a horse, they would have shot you by now. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:     How you can say you have blue blood, it is more likely anti- freeze , that is blue, or when you got a little tipsy you swallowed one of those tablets you put in the cisten. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

hiya,
Norm, i’m so thick skinned after all these years they would’nt be able to shoot me the slaughtermans bullet would just bounce off, and i could be blessed with blue blood because you have got to remember that County Durham is the land of the Prince Bishops and they was regarded as royalty.
thanks harry long retired.

You have only got me half convinced Harry, I think I am nearer to the Royal family, my brother-inlaw decorated the nursery for Dianne at Althorpe so William & Wilf could sleep in pleasant surroundings, your is a little vague! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Norm, the number of times my old lady has ā€œcrownedā€ me means i’ve just got be royalty, and if you doubt that there’s no way you’ll get a knighthood this side of Christmas.
thanks harry long retired.
