Dave the Renegade:
Now we know where the black economy started, with BRS,always looked up to BRS as a young bloke, its almost as bad as finding out there is no father christmas.

Cheers Dave.
The timbers and sheet were already on the Reiver when i inherited it Dave, honest.
Anyroad, the black economy keeps the other economy going so they say,and BRS had plenty of cash as they had the best contracts, and Harry and Norm had the best jobs and the best wagons.
Fancy having a sheet nicked in Liverpool
.

Bet it was that Yosser Hughes, Chris.
I onced picked a BRS driver up at Tinsley,Sheffield early one morning. He was on the Redfearn National Glass contract and on a dodgy at the Oakamoor on the A38.He told me he had taken his sheets off his spread-axle 40ft and backed over them to stop them being nicked.I had a cuppa with him and was walking back to my wagon across the road when he shouted me back.Somebody in the night had nicked the wheels as well as the sheets and you can imagine the size of those sheets for covering two high stacks of bottles.
Nowt sacred,even in the 70s.
Yeah know what you mean Chris, drivers were always getting wheels nicked around here in those days, especially if they dropped tralers in laybyâs and took the unit home, bet the super singles, they have nowadays would give them a few herniaâs
. But they will have them if they are left, nothings sacred.
Cheers Dave.
Hi all,
Who mentioned Hell Drivers

Just make sure you donât take this one out

Hello lads, I am back from the smoke, when I was down there, I went and checked on Harryâs hotel, I left a wee dram behind the bar, I hope he gets it â â ?, and I checked his show is still going. Dreamcoat & Petticoats was a foot tapping show, music from the 60âs & 70âs, a load of us wrinklyâs dancing in the aisles. Blood Brothers was a tragic musical set in Liverpool, also very good, Oliver was great, the children were a joy to watch. Now the one I went to see my mates sister in Abergailâs Party, was a short funny play, but a bit of a culture shock, the theatre was above a pub, and held about 40 people, the actors was so close, I could stretch out and touch them. That is all my news, Chris I have to remind you, I am happily retired, all that work you left Harry & me, tired me out just thinking about it ha ha ha, but I liked the lorries, not the loads, and you must not put on Harry too much, for he is a little older than me, and not as fit as me, and I feel the strain. Hope he will not get too excited with the girls in the Westend, I did not know if they was wearing short skirts, or wide belts, lads I think I may be getting past it!. Sandman Norman
Hi Norman,
Doesnât sound as if you are past it,taking in all those shows in a week. Havenât been to London for about six years, been close on the M25 quite a few times since then, but havenât needed to go into the smoke. Harry will enjoy that snifter you left him, also the bit of leg he might get a glimpse of. Glad you had a good break. I expect Chris will have some more BRS wagons ready.
Cheers Dave.

Theyâve both to get the train to Northwich and get a Mid-Cheshire ERF tipper apiece, brand spankers they are,no nights away so no dodgys, days and nights, weeks about,10 hour shifts.

Get a load on the back of those two Chris, that will stop them thinking about these â â â â showgirls.

Cheers Dave.
Aye,just had a thought though Dave, they wouldnât get owt done for laughing.
Harry can go on nights and Norm on days, then swap over. What do you reckon, shall I draw the rota up?
Chris nice wagons, too good for me and Harry, give them to Dave & Keith, they need the money, I am a rich capitalist, according to Harry, and he is so well off, he gives to his favourite charity Ladbrokes. Sandman Norman
Chris, I think you might have got the answer, could be a good way of getting rid of any excess energy, which could otherwise get them into trouble.

Cheers Dave.
Dave, you are a stirrer, you get out and do some of that work, and take young Keith with you, at least it will get you out of Wales, into some sunshine, you should be ashamed of yourself, trying to unload it on to two old fellows like Harry & me. Sandman Norman
Things donât alter do they?I give you and Harry a brand new ERF tipper apiece,no roping, just a sheet over the load,no handball,no neets out (except when you are on neets),10 hours max per shift, goblin teasmade in your rooms and still not good enough.Well, get down to Peterborough and you can double up on bricks with this little tool

Train from Northwich to Crewe,Crewe to Derby,Derby to Nottingham,Nottingham to Grantham and Grantham to Peterborough.Train fare in the office.

Chris,
Transport management is your forte, you remembered Norman saying how many bricks he could pick up at once,so this little Bedford artic and load should be no problem, and with Harry to help should be tickety boo,all nice and handy in the same area.
Cheers Dave.
Now you are talking Dave, no trouble to me and Harry, it would give us a bit of excise, it might see the poor old chap out, and me a little out of breath and stiff as a board, after I was finished, because I have to keep reminding you, we are no spring chickens, in fact we are older than a lot of those wagons, you keep showing usâ â ? Sandmam Norman

Hi Norman,
Yes realise you chaps are a decade older than me,still have a haulier at 74 who still takes the wheel, although he doesnât drive every day at the moment. I think the sheeting and shoveling are getting a bit hard now( hope he doesnât look on this thread ) ,but most of his generation he has worked hard.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Chris that wonderful Bedford, actually drove one like it for a day very early in my career but remember it well i could actually pull a wheelie with it, but donât want owt to do with bricks, if you still want me on the books itâll have to be one of the BRS tippers and permanent nights please, i see well in the dark and eat loads of carrots, and you never see rabbits and donkeyâs wearing glasses.
thanks harry long retired.
