FB_20160823_20_55_48_Saved_Picture.jpgHey tommy did you once take me home in one of these?

Sure did Mick! It was a 1959 model, pale green. I once had seven people in it going home. Ha ha. That was during 1976, I was shagging a girl from the shoe shop in Sale, Rennie, er, although married I think by then was bonking one from another shoe shop in Eccles!

By the way, you’re a master of understatement Mick. I certainly did know Carl. We lived together for two years, renting his mum’s house, lots of parties and madness! Ask him about some of them, the Cat’s birthday was one. Cat was called “schade” German for ‘Shame’. Ask him about the “Mars” weekend! Although I very seldom go to pubs now it might be nice to pop into the bluebell sometime for a chinwag. BFN.

Yeah tommy you must get to bell carls mentioned a few things about what went on when we never had a care in the world but everything worked ha! Not like today anyway I see Andy drapers still driving ha!

Hi, Mick. Here’s a photo taken along Torquay seafront. They’re Palm trees along the road. I was on the ‘special contract’ to “Lubrication Engineers” …very specialist and expensive oils. When a gallon of 20W 50 was normally £5 this stuff was £18+ . Bridges had a contract to store and deliver from the warehouse across Tomlinson road (Leyland ). Just me and another lad, whose name escapes me- he’s in the other photo taken in some bar, the guy on the far right with glasses on. Do you know him? A rather er, quiet lad.

Of course, on the 5 day runs ( with stop-out money,) all over the country, I often found myself where I shouldn’t be. Like you? Exeter deliveries turned into Torquay nightclubs. Amazing.

I recall dropping 16 x five gallon drums of oil (worth a fortune) in a bloke’s house next door to my actual drop next door, (a garage) in London at 1am…yeah, 1 o’clock in the morning - he was ■■■■■■■ just stumbling in from the pub . The drums were stacked in his hallway! This was so I could drive round the West End sight-seeing all night. Like a chariot race, I loved it…laughed my head off and felt on top of the world. No tachographs then. Two log books. Talk about happy days…and I was being paid!

The other pic is Me at the front, is it Ray Houghton on the left? I think the guy right behind me was ‘Jimmy’■■
If anyone can identify us all I’d be grateful.

The guy on the right as I said, was the other driver assigned to the oil contract, with a brand new, special liveried TK. These were the happiest days of my life.
I just hope the photos have loaded correctly or it means nowt.

dont kow first lad middle one is jimmy sherlock and martin ? cant think of surname. and that lubrication engineers contract phil bailey ended up on that after you.

Martin West it just came to me

Well done Tommy you out did me but if I’d become a driver who knows what could have happened ha! Unforgettable great times.

But look what they did
