Bridge Strike near Ely?

Santa:

Last year it was revealed that despite numerous warning signs, HGV drivers continue to underestimate the height of the bridge and have caused 36 hours of delays for rail passengers.

Underestimate■■? More like they underestimate the height of what they are driving. Do newspapers not employ proof readers anymore?

Surely to God some self survival instincts should kick in, in a lorry that bridge is at eye height, care in the community has a lot to answer for.

When approaching Ely bridge in a Low roof transit, you think will it or won’t it. So htf do they bloody well hit it in a 3.5ton Luton. Simples there foooking stoopid and blind.

Straight answer is you only need a basic driving licence to drive a 3.5T Luton so brains not really required.

Actually I sometimes think the less brains involved, the easier it us to pass the test going by some people I’ve known.

Obviously its the bridge designers fault likely 50+ years ago for not considering the vans feelings or that it might identify as a flatbed rather than a box van…although the bridge has given it free van reassignment surgery.
