as far as i’m concerned , bribery would only count if you were offered something if youd do something other than your usual duty or purpose for being there , there’s a big difference between ,
thanks driver , heres a bottle of plonk for christmas .
and
if you unload a bit here & a bit there , i’ll give you a bottle of plonk for chrismas.
a bribe is an agreed act between the driver & customer a gift is thanks for a service provided by the driver.
what happens to all the freebies the office staff get during the year ?
we got new scanias at work , but it’s the office staff that are wearing the new scania jackets , dont see them handing them to the driver or back to scania .
what i get given to me by the customer goes home with me
Every day you think to yourself thats it i’ve heard it all now, and sure enough along comes some more carp thats even more ludicrous than the last lot.
Remember lads its always best not to tell your workmates ANYTHING, in every depot theres a spy, we used to call one particular individual ’ ‘‘Tacho’’…the spy in the cab’, in all cases the quickest way to tell the manager something is to tell the spy first, in every case i’ve ever known the company spy has been a weedy little prick, often a fat little prick.
One other thing people should get into their heads…management should be on a need to know basis, and the less they know the better.
Bribery act my arse, bloody politicians should know about that.
I’d like to confess: Yesterday at several points in the day, the batcher at Smiths Concrete Cassington, did bribe me with coffee and tea to wait until a mixer returned before tipping my load of sand.
Oh and a local pub landlord gave me a baguette, packet of crisps (cheese and onion) and a can of coke for spreading a load of flint I was delivering…
Merc the word is rapport not re-pore. On my sick bed so forgive me.
Still trying not to deface the sign at Gist in Crewe from the traffic office that says, “Can all drivers re-frame from sounding their horn at the gate.” I will have to refrain for now but if someone else can do it, it’ll save me a job when I’m back in the land of the living.
always get a cuppa off the leccy board lads when I drop a generator off .I’d better hope my gaffer dont find out about the steak and chips i had friday night off a very grateful pub landlord either
and i’d better give the 24 cans of stella back the generator company gave me last friday aswell oh hang on I cant I’ve drunk the lot
Working in removals, more often than not at the end of the job the customer will give the guys a tip, be it £5 or £100 each. This isn’t a bribe, its a thank you from the client to the crew. The OP’s situation is no different, its not a bribe, its a thank you. Your gaffer should be chuffed that they see the company in a positive light so as to go out of their way to thank the drivers!
I don’t know how many times I’ve posted this on here so far, but receiving a tip from a customer is not a bribe.
If your employers think it is tell to read the legislation properly and tell you exactly which part of your recieving a tip would be considered a Bribe?
Lovlyperson:
Well.Your Boss would have a Problem with me.
im corrupt as if i would get paid for it.
Just last at Wimbledon Tsco
came back with Cages full Cardboard in it.
why,was the Question.
The Manager was that friendly,i couldnt say no,i answered.
How friendly was he?
Now,he served Coffee and Pastry.
Thats no reason to do against Company policy.
Well, who knows me knows im shy with talking to Manager and ladies,so i didnt explain that we had to free the Emergency exit.
i just accepted two Day banned from Work.
A little tip in future, there are “people” who buy clean cardboard, if it becomes a regular run, you may have found yourself a niche market, nod nod
A bribe being something given or offered to ‘Gain a Favour’,
A gift being a ‘present’
Okaaaay, so I had a pot of damson jam, & a massive bag of apples…won’t tell the boss …'cause I might end up in a jam …or stewed
I had a bit of a think about what an ordinary driver might do for a bribe.
You have a regular run and a customer pays you to make him the first delivery even though it’s out of your way.
A fuel outlet gives you gifts to fill up there even though they are more expensive.
Anyone have any other ideas - bearing in mind that paying a driver to do something, even if it’s illegal, would probably not be bribery.
Does this mean i cant leave out the Mince pies & Milk for santa?? … lol
I think its bloody stupid tbh. If i got given something from the customer to take back to the office then fair play, but if its for me then there would be no way the idiots in the office would see it.
