I’m probably wrongly assuming that is aimed at me, but if that is so I don’t get exactly how making a comparison of conditions for drivers, and attitudes a few years back with today, and using smileys to illustrate the required context of the post :bulb: makes me a know all :open_mouth: but hey… if thats what you think… not a prob mate :unamused:

Sorry, did I quote you?

No.

My remark was a general tongue in cheek job, as I am sure Verns was.

And by the way I’m old enough to remember those days too

Yeh ok, but I did start with “I’m prob wrongly assuming” etc, so I was wrong  ,… or does that mean I was right… :unamused: oh what the hell you know what I mean

robroy:
Don’t get me wrong it’s good that the job has changed for the better ( be it only in maybe one way after saying that :unamused: ) that drivers EXPECT and take for granted things like a big cab, comfort, luxury, good storage etc, and a good ride (ooer mrs  ) and rightly so we should !..end of!.. some are even bothered about colour scheme, ok…each to his own, but I wonder if anybody else on here are having a laugh to themselves who remember earlier days driving around in crap, sleeping in day cabs with boards across the seats, no night heaters, and when PAS was a luxury :open_mouth: . So if the only problem is a BRAND NEW hi spec motor with a seat that has too many adjusters to get it… just right, or the interior colour is …soooooo las year :unamused: … We aint doing so bad are we? … NOT having a pop lads HONEST  , but some of you don’t know you are born  … God I feel old!! :unamused:

progress sir comes with time and although I have respect for the truckers of ye old years… I expect that a brand ■■■■■■■ new motor isn’t a boneshaker!!!

Also with respect to you, that is exactly my point… From someone who has driven ACTUAL boneshakers, you could never compare a brand new DAF today with a one of those just because you thought it was not as comfy as the MAN, but I hope you get sorted, or even used to it anyway.
And “ye old years” ■■ It wasn’t THAT long ago you cheeky bugger

used to it aint good enough DAFS are crap may as well
be still called leyland… if anyone in this forum thinks a DAF is better than a MAN or a VOLVO is deluded This is 2012 and new trucks should be with the times and not back in the stone ages …like DAF ARE!!!

I’ve driven a few different DAFs, all XF autos except for one CF manual. Apart from the XF that had a knackered driver’s seat, owing to the last driver weighing in at 25 stone+ they were all OK. Not the most comfortable but not the worst.

They always seem a bit ‘plasticky’ and lacking in modernity I think. But they do the job.

I found the auto box better on the DAF than on the MAN TBH.

So, what do folk think of the new Euro 6 one?

That grill is nasty, did the designer let his child draw it?

Excellent, they’ve kept seperate mirrors so you still have a chance of some field of vision at junctions, unlike most of the competition which now have wardrobe door mirros bolted to the window frame.

Now if they start a trend by chucking lucifers auto gearbox in the skip where it belongs that might just be the last proper drivers truck widely used in this country.

It seems the manual gearbox is standard…and very good.

Even the AS-Tronic is better than it was…although I wonder if it is as good as it needs to be?

Best news you could read on the new trucks… 510bhp and a 12 speed Manual, proper job!

I like the looks as well.

all i can say is CHEAP/CHEAP LEYLAND NEVER CHANGE. BEEN ON MIND LAST 3 YEARS LOOK LIKE THERE HERE TO STAY . SAD  BUT THATS THE WAY IT IS.

Some o you lads must have had to thick a mattress in you cots. You have a selection of modern trucks fitted with the latest ideas in comfort and still you moan you want transporting back to the sixties and seventies we had a heater, no night heater unless you carried a hot water bottle, the dash in most was basic no many switches well there was’ny ony extras to need switches, seat adjustment again minimal. Did we complain no really because we were too busy handballing the load on or off or changing our own wheels but what we did have was good times and we had time to stop and help one another.Eddie.

What has it got do do with Leyland ? CF 75 ,85 AND 105 are Eindhoven designs assembled in Leyland ,note i said assembled and not built

The LF range is a Renault cab ,■■■■■■■ engine, zf gearbox ,and albion axle ,most of the rest is leylands…The only exception is the CF 65,which for the last few years has used the leyland chassis with an eindhoven cab
