The lorries are always there being serviced and washed on a Saturday Barry. If you do ever want to call up, drop me a message on here and I will make sure I am about to let you in if you wanted to take some pics and let us have a look at some of your pics.

I look forward to a few pics being posted!

Bradfordlad - I don’t suppose your dad is Pat McCann is it? He drove for my dad a couple of years ago. Nice fella. Always looked mint those Foden’s. Credit to him.

Yeah, I remember Mark Pugh - Had a yard in Rodley and ran mostly MAN’s. He was gonna take over the world and was doing jobs very cheap I seem to recall! I went to school with his son, Ashley and was good mates with him. Haven’t seen him for years though.

AEC, betterphoto for Sturdyman and also of M & R Foden

Gillson Foden parked at Hicks Old Yard, may have been sold on to Hicks

Could never remember which Hicks was which, as there was the other part of the family under the railway bridge, opposite Ring Lamp factory.

Sorry that the Bradford theme has stretched a little, bit until someone can set up a site to cover West Yorkshire, a lot of my photos could be classed as Foreign.

I was born and brought up for the first 11 years opposite Courtaulds Mill in Great Horton. Hindsight, what a wonderful thing, IF ONLY I had a camera to record all the Henry Long 8 wheelers and trailers, T E Shorts from Halifax and all the other wagons working out of there. I then moved to Allerton, again without a camera, when James C Ashworth was still using the old AEC Mk3 with the double bumpers and yes I did see them assisting each other up from Chapel Lane, probably over loaded for the engines of the day, IF ONLY!!!

fantastic gloves the last foden in the pics is my dads B254 PVN its a ex tilcon with the 265 rolls we bought it off jim hicks its seen here still in his colours it was later painted maroon this truck ran upto 1998 when we got one of the first 380 cat alphas to come out

The name Clive Coleman means little to me, cannot remember taking any photos of any trucks with that name on. However following are some photos of trucks working in Bradford, obviously several are foreigners, but some of you may recall them.

The 2 Solaglas Scanias were on lease from Ryder ,in the late 80s we started hauling the bulk glass out of Solaglas ,they then replaced their fleet of rigids, all with specialist demountable bodies with brand new 4 and 6 wheeler Scanias on E registrations. The problem was that these were signed up on a 5 year deal and someone upstairs forgot to tell someone downstairs not to renew them because they were making all their drivers redundant .There were still a few left in the yard over 12 months later which had done very little mileage.Ryder would send a mechanic out to service them at regular intervals even though they werent in use .They were eventually absorbed into other depots

anyone remember M&R distributors? That foden a few post above jogged my memory. They used to have a red Volvo F10 too, anymore M&R pictures anywhere?

They were most definitely H reg I drove one, they kept me and Malcolm Booth on for a while to clear up orders. What a brilliant job that was, I was gutted when it wound up. Great photos.
