Boston bombings

This topic needs a warning in the title because of that pic. Although in fact I think actually it should be removed and I did report it but nothing was done. I didn’t want to or need to see it but more importantly it should never have been taken, how would anyone else like it if in their darkest moment some moron shoved a camera in their face and spread their distress all over the world. That poor man will be hounded now.

Rikki is keen enough to give people greif on here for what gets posted on facebook.
So can you confirm any of the dead and injured contributed to ira funds. It doesnt matter if a terrorist bomb goes off in boston birmingham or baghdad its wrong abd the only thing that matters is inocent people died or are injured.
Buildings can be replaced people cant.
Id imagine alquidea gets funds and supourt from uk muslims does that mean london deserved to be bombed?

Can you confirm that I posted time and time again that I felt sympathy for the dead and injured. and deplored the atrocity… or did you skip that bit? , doesn’t fit in with what you are trying to paint, I did say that I would not mourn for Boston as a City as I was being asked to do, as they, as a community have actively and knowingly funded bombings in the UK over many years , My concerns and sympathys are with the innocents caught up in this atrocity and that’s it.

Then again Luke it’s real life no good trying to brush it under the carpet.

I have no agenda but i think this isnt tge time to start blaming people just seems a tad hypocritical for someone who sees fit to shout down veiws that seem biggoted here to air biggoted veiws elsewhere.
To save your valuable time typing it i know the world of trucknet is bigger and better than ever before and i know where the door is.

Unfortunately people sympathise with the IRA in America, but they haven’t a clue what it’s all about! :open_mouth: just stick a fistful of dollars in a bucket :unamused: and everything would be ok! :imp: bombs go off all round the world :smiling_imp: that’s why they call it TERRORISM! :bulb: fortunately the Americans cut off the supply after a lot of hard work and infiltration twenty odd years ago, how do you think the ceasefire cameabout? His views are perfectly normal, he may of lost friends or family of these [zb]in Northern Ireland or over here or GERMANY where they cocked it up by blowing up a woman ( soldiers wife ) or major Dillon on his doorstep ( with the stolen pistols from cpl Derek howes and woods ) from the funerals at andersonstown! People are allowed an opinion. :grimacing: Luke if you read mike c small print it said graphic images, but as someone else pointed out it’s REAL life and can’t be swept under the carpet!

The issue you have is that Rikki has his own FB account with his own personal views.

On here he is a Manager who has to answer to people higher up the food chain and therefore must give appropriate moderation to his own views.

(And I’m not jumping to his defence… Just seeing the wood from the trees)

Wasnt there a thread on here recently about people getting sacked and repromanded because of what they have said on various social media sites

So you’d be happy to spend the rest of your life being the ‘face’ of a high profile bombing just because some moron decided it was a good idea to take a pic of you with your leg blown off? How about if people started posting pictures of soldiers in Afghanistan who’ve had limbs blown off? How many people would stand for that? We can understand real life and what happens through words, we don’t need ultra graphic pictures.

I agree, i don’t think that picture should be on here, there are other media streams for satisfying the morbid amongst humanity.

Agree absolutely. There are plenty of websites where you can see this stuff, do we need to add to it?

Don’t give a stuff about Boston.

The IRA were funded by NORAID and there was a lot of fund raising for the IRA being done by Irish Americans in Boston, especially in the Irish bars there.

I see Boston as reaping what they’ve sewn. The irony is the bombs appear to be of the litter bin nail type - a favourite with the IRA. It would be just icing on the cake of justice if it were disenfranchised former IRA terrorists doing this in retaliation for the funding drying up.

Oh look, the contrarian has arrived

couldn’t have put it better myself conor…

I agree that an essentially ‘entertainment’ Website like TNUK is not really a suitable forum to depict graphic images of a terrorist outrage.

Neither do I think TNUK should be the place where members should be able to garner some amusement from such atrocities by means of making reactionary posts.

Unfortunately Switch, you are wrong. The News is the News and if that means that graphic images are used to illustrate, to even the most stupid of us, that something awful has happened, so be it.

I would be more concerned about who chooses which outrage is more newsworthy and why? There was a systematic series of bomb attacks in Iraq yesterday with many casualties but that has faded into the background.

After all, Iraq is Nation far away, with a people we know little about…

From a person who thinks a lorry driver deserves to die if they make a mistake it shows where your compassion and mentality is.
And people wonder why lorry drivers are seen as knuckle dragging morons.

This is true, the IRA bombing campaigns in England in the 1980’s were largely funded by collections in Boston bars. It doesn’t mean that the people who were killed or injured this week deserved to be killed or injured, one was only eight years old, but as the old saying has it “What goes around, comes around”.

We’ll have to wait to find out what the motivation of the bomber was but the attack doesn’t have the hallmark of Islamic extremists.

I thought that too. Guessing maybe some ■■■■■■■■■■■ or mad Christian type thing.

I see CSI Trucknet is branching out into terrorism now…

I wasn’t really wrong as I was just stating opinion. I don’t think these pictures serve any real purpose, no more than slowing down and staring at a car crash makes someone a better driver. If these pics are necessary then where do you draw the line? Should we have see a picture of the 8 year old boy lying dead in the street?

As for the second point you answered it yourself. People connect more with this simply because they are just like us living in places just like the ones we live in. I doubt the west is the only one guilty of this type of selective reporting. I imagine middle eastern news focuses more on their region more than they would this. Simple fact is people connect and empathise more with people like themselves. Not saying its right just that that’s how it seems

as much as I hate the ira and any of it’s sympathisers, I could never show such a lack of compassion as this ■■■■■■■ imbecile has. From thinking it’s ok to point the blame at a deceased driver, to justifying the bombing of innocent people (including children) on the grounds that Bostonians raised money 20 years ago for the Ira.

Yes we are entitled to opinions, but yours are better kept to yourself. You are scum.
