Bosses cars

According to the letter we all received last week, despite increased damage to the company trucks and vans (Mr Yo Bro didn’t help with his high speed reverse into a bay and taking the side off one of our MAN’s with his trailer tail swing), the company has had a good year, and this was reflected in our generous xmas bonuses. Just a pity the taxman had to help himself to half of it. Grrrrr :imp:

As a reward, one of the bosses decided to trade in his elderly Saab 93, and treat himself to a brand new, top of the range… Kia Optima ! Well, to be fair, it is a nice looking motor. It’s just that it has that Kia badge on the bonnet. The other boss has stuck with his trusty Ford Focus estate.

So, I was wondering what cars your gaffers have sitting in their reserved parking places in the yard? Are they members of the Audi/BMW/Merc club? Or are they especially flash and have a Porsche 911 or an Audi R8? Or are they down to earth like the Dutchies and run something more modest?

What does Albion drive?

While I remember, a mobile xmas tree followed me into the 1,650 metre long tunnel on the A2 motorway near Utrecht tonight. I tried to identify what it was in my mirrors through all the bright blingy lights, and think it was a Scania. However, I think he had one of those fancy exhaust systems fitted as the sound that was reverberating off the walls of the two lane acoustic chamber was fantastic. I lowered both my windows to get the full on effect. Unfortunately, he turned off just after the tunnel, otherwise I would have slowed down to let him overtake and get a close up dose of those burbling pipes !

Swap a Saab 9-3 for a Kia,I have a t plate old generation 9-3 and the build quality is unreal it is like a tank, I don’t think many of these Kia’s and other Korean car will see 18 years service and still be going strong.
I find it astonishing that some people buy cars that won’t last, and Saab sadly no longer with us due to GM trying to get them to devalue the Saab brand and pulling the plug :frowning:

I had a Saab 95 and it was a bloody good well made and sturdy car. It had that quality car feel when you drove it, and was listed at the time as the safest on the market in a collision.
I got a lift off a mate in his brand new Kia, good deal, good back up, all the trimmings on it, and all hi tech electronic cack.
Sat in it it was road noisy, with the ride of a 70s Cortina,… it was Accrington Stanley to Saab’s Real Madrid.

Got to agree robroy,my saab is a convertible and it’s still has less road noise than the Dacia my wife had on hire…
They really did build quality motors

My own car is usually much better than any bosses car…but my last boss had a top of the range Jag…and a Masserati…which carried spare wheels and or batteries etc…he also had a merc so wasnt doing too bad, but he did look after his drivers.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest cos when i win the euro i’ll have a better one than my employer, lol(we can all dream)

Had a boss who had a completely fudged and battered old transit that was about 20 years old. Used to be funny because we could hear the thing coming half a mile away; it served him well though and was much more practical then any bmw 5 series or similar.

I’m 25 years old and got myself in debt by spending silly money on fast bikes and cars. Only took me to this year to realize a car is a car and you don’t need anything other then a good cup holder. Currently have a 20 year old beemer and when that goes bang I may well get a transit or similar for a couple hundred bucks.

My last bosses were a 58 plate Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 60 plate Fiat Punto, though I understand Mr Bossman has since upgraded to a new shape Jeep. That Punto was Rapido too, had to drive it home from the Merc dealer one day and it frit the crap out of me.

I’m sure the advert for this be your own boss crap had a Bentley in it but I can’t afford one! With than in mind I drive a 59 Plate Citroen C5 Estate.

My current boss has a 15ish year old Toyota Land Cruiser which is fair enough. I haven’t noticed any really flashy cars but one or two of the drivers do have newer shaped BMWs.

I don’t have a car myself, being 21 I’m still young enough to get my dad to take me into work and back for a small sum of £10 a week petrol money   One or two of the lads take the ■■■■ so a car is definitely on the agenda sooner or later. I’m the only bloke I know who drives a truck all day then has to wait for his dad to pick him up

You are taking the pi$$ out of your old man ,it should be £25.00 at least . Factor in labour fuel and maintenance.

His old man used to get £25, but he had to put a lower rate in after somebody else said they’d do it for £12.

I’ll tell you when I’m either sacked or I leave as the bosses car in very expensive and I’m not slipping up what it is or where it is

transport manager has a 911 after driving round a a5 4 door which he said was hsi wifes.but secondin command has just got a 4 door a5s so asked what extras he ordered with it and all i got back its car thats all to me.in other words its there to show off where he lives as he does not car at all about cars at any times since ive known him.and my own i a small c4 coupe sebastion loed edtion i got 5 half yrs ago for 6grand with 16000 on it and is just coming upto 50000 now.but ive started to to save up for my next car a jag xf 16plate onwards 300bhp v6 hopefully sometime this time next year or just after.

Where I used to work my boss was a proper petrol head(and still is)
And so am I -whilst I was there he had a couple of M5’s ,couple of M3’s,an M4,Bentley continental,a Ferrari and a few I’ve forgotten(I was there ten years)
Fair play to him,it’s his money!!
Where I work now,the top man has a suped up land rover discovery and a porsche .
Again ,fair play -I get a very decent wage ,so I’m happy
It’s also a very decent place to work and we all got a proper bonus for Christmas .
To be honest I’m not too concerned with what the boss drives-I’m more concerned what I earn.

George Reynolds (ex safe cracker, ex owner of Darlington FC and ex owner of Direct Worktops) used to drive a Roller as he said the boot was big enough to get numerous bags of cement in it. Didn’t do him much good when the old bill pulled him and found said boot full of millions of pounds worth of unlaundered cash though!

The bosses have fairly modest Fords and Volvos. Many of the drivers treat themselves to BMW and Mercedes which is their choice but to have them parked up for 5 days st a time us an expensive luxury.

Loved the way Darlo FC changed the name of their ‘George Reynolds’ stadium to disassociate themselves from him asap.
Still a bloody good ground for a club in their league btw.

I am waiting to get my OG 93 convertible. It might be in a week or two

The cars I drove were usually old but my bosses cars were always older! When I had a 1991 Volvo the two gaffers were running a 1986 Fiesta and a 1984 Nissan, later upgraded to a 1989 model which he still had when I left in 2002. Like me their cars were just a tool to get them to work and back.

Pete.
