yes,the land that time forgot has a lot to answer for when your a bit out of town.
The web search page appears to be limited to returning the 100 closest matches. If you put in the postcode for Soho Square in that there Lunnon, it gives you 100 places , all of which are less than 0.18 miles (317 YARDS) away (and of course does not include any of the big chains)…
Edit: Yeah I got charged 100% at the mcdick drive through. What a fraud. Why would it not apply to takeaway instead of eat-in? Isn’t there a ‘‘pandemic’’ going around with a ‘‘deadly virus’’ so bad we have to wear masks when shopping for food but at the same time are encouraged to go mingle with strangers in restaurants w/o masks? Isn’t it better financially for restaurants when people buy their overpriced food but don’t actually take a table? I mean it’s the same price, right? What a joke. Just give them the free money you’ve promised them
I was hoping I could get a discounted chinky takeaway, if the sit-down restaurant bit couldn’t come up with sufficient 6’ gaps because there were only a handful of tables in the first place…
No dice though, by the looks of it. No Chippy neither, they must be struggling as a small business, asking people to hang about outside with masks on all down the street looking like a ladies-in-black parade outside a mosque @ dusk on a friday night… Tandoori is no good neither, eat in or take out…
Meanwhile back at McD’s - I bet some of the more enterprising places start offering “waiter table service” so they can muscle in on that unmaskable (!!!) service charge…
…Or at Subways “Here’s your sandwich sir, and here’s your 10% tab that you don’t get any discount off. Have a nice day.”
Funny thing is about all this - A few months back, I think I posted something about there being “far too many eateries” especially in London. It was as if your average illegal immigrant who then gets GRANTED asylum - made it thus far, because they said they were going to open the 11545th eaterie in the square mile around your london district, or some such ■■■■■■■■ that makes no sense, unless it is in Sad-iq Kan’t Londonistan.
…At least Our Boris is giving him something to jump up and down all steamy about with this “London Lockdown” being spoken of…
■■■■■■■■ Cunning Plan to bust out every dodgy eaterie in the country - takes shape?
(If you can say that ^^^ without swearing, you’re a better orator than I am)
Just took full advantage of it today me and my lovely Mrs.
Sat in the sun (shutting our eyes pretending we’re back in Cyprus instead of 200 yds from my works yard )
Two main courses, two sweets, I had 2 pints, the wife had a soft drink…all for 22 quid.
Cheers Boris.

I would imagine that if you actually live in the center of London, it won’t be much good to you getting say, “Redhill” come up as “somewhere within 25 miles”…
…Or maybe that is the explanation for the heavier-than-ever traffic levels on the M25 of late? (outside of rush hour times, I mean…)
