Trouble with DDs is you cant change the trailer suspension on any I’ve driven. God knows why but doesnt help with bridges.
All the Amazon ones have up/down buttons halfway up the backdoor on the side. They auto-level when you start driving, apparently, but I don’t trust that 100%. So I set them to what I think looks right, and then if the auto-leveller fails to kick in, then I know I’m roughly 16ft 2in give or take 3 inches lol. Sat nav, height indicator, and brain are then set to 16ft 6.
I’ve seen lads pull off the bay and drive out the gate with them set on maximum height which must put them over 17ft on the back end. I just can’t bring myself to do that.

I really don’t enjoy driving DD’s.
There was a Prime DD the other week out of Swansea that shaved the back end of the trailer roof off on the M4 nr pencoed due to the suspension either not lowering automatically or quite possibly even raising itself, apparently there is a known/reported issue with some of them that causes the suspension to slowly raise if there is a problem/incompatibility with the ABS or maybe some other connection between the unit and trailer, the bridge over the motorway nr pencoed in question isn’t much above the 16’6" minimum height by the look of it (it’s inclined so it’s a lot lower Eastbound than it is Westbound)…
cracker-bar:
M1, M6, get off at Stonebridge island take 3rd exit, next island 1st exit, next island 1st exit, next island 3rd exit then follow the road and Starley Way comes up on the right, no low bridges at all.
you can’t get off the M6 at Stonebridge, if you come off at J4 and head for Lincoln Farm the next island by the pub with the big layby, is Stonebridge island.
Isn’t it time we all argued “Why actually BOTHER with the over 15’9” double deckers AT ALL?
What was wrong with the old double deckers which would fit under all the bridges around the north circular, etc.? Swan Neck RM trailers at 14’7" will do that.
Now they’ve got these white-fronted 16’2" things, which won’t even go under the hangar lane underpass on the A40 properly!
