Pink & Jones
Another mob I remember seeing around the traps. Odd looking front end though.

Looks like the body’s from Boalloy, based on mould orrig used by Seddon Penine, but the luton looks sloped forward
She looks unloved , bet the cab was bloody cold

Abels
Dead smart that, I don’t remember seeing a tatty Abels wagon.
Yes that Daf looks so smart , I remember when Abels did the sofas and bed deliveries for Habitat , we just reversed the wagon and drag on the door in Norfolk and they tipped you whilst you had 45 , nice easy tip for a change .

Oh god’s teeth, you’ve reminded me…
Yonks ago ‘We’ had a contract with a mob (based somewhere near NW10, can’t remember where exactly) who specialised in sofa beds. And it was our unbridled delight to deliver these infernal [zb] [zb] contraptions to their customers, for about four ha’pence a piece. Customers almost without exception lived in premises whose entry was almost always never going to accept such infernal [zb] [zb] contraptions. Lifts to these places (there was a statistically significant relationship between people who bought these things and 5th floor flats) either never existed or, if present, never worked. Doors were always 3/4" too narrow, and even if you managed to wrangle the pestilential thing past the front door there was no way to get the gaudily-upholstered death trap into the lounge/ bedroom/ attic/ wherever. The light ones all weighed >8cwt, and every one of them would take fingers, hands and entire limbs off given half a moment’s inattention. In all the (thankfully brief) time I hauled these infernal [zb] [zb] contraptions around, I’ve never seen so many grown men cry, and had I had a mirror I’d have seen another one.
Tips? Oh please…
, hi Parkroyal ,it sounds like you need to get here and help me with some blasted tall metal cabinets !,
Started a three day office move using two small mercs due to a tight access point and ferry it to the new office about 2 miles away , easy yes , but this afternoon we had one more trip to do with about 10 filing cabinets and three tall cabinets in the basement , the three cabinets refused to go up the stairs with the client saying Pickfords moved them down the stairs , no work been done on the stairs at all , any how we gave up today and we were not willing to damage the plaster etc , turns out the stair carpet and steel angle irons on the stairs was added a few years ago ago for health and safety reasons as this is a place who supply care homes with care assistants , we try again tomorrow
.
Lets see a photo Steve,a twenty pound note on the top step sometimes helps.
Talking about Pickfords what as happened to them ,in the last month I have driven from Ellesmere port to the south coast twice and not seen a single Pickfords van on route.a few years ago you would see loads of them on the m 6.
