Wheel Nut:
I was told and I had no reason to doubt the information that one of Punchards young drivers did not claim night out money because his boss allowed him to bling up his truck and do the continent.
I know there are some photos of Punchard around the site but not sure if the driver is a member on here.
Carl normally knows the score about the local firms who allow customising.
Punchard pays for the light bar & spots & beacons on our trucks. We need the spots for when We load Logs in the forest, need the beacons for when we go on to building sites. Both Ben & Fat Lad got paid more than us as they did weekends away, Fat Lad has left now.
And who`s shiney truck is Fat Lad away to drive for now ?
Don’t care what i drive really as long as getting paid decent cash for it.
Worked for companies with blinged out motors before, just draws attention to yourself which maybe a good thing or maybe a bad thing if its from the trafpol and VOSA ! Found a lot of the blinged out motors are old motors anyways, might look kinda fancy on top but underneath they are sheds, everything worn out.
I prefer just normal standard motors, only blinged out thing i like are light bars, are handy at night on twisty single carriageway roads, if i truck i drive has got light bars great, if not don’t really care, def wouldnt be putting my hand in my pocket to put them on a truck i don’t own.
One place i worked, everyone had their own truck, just standard trucks with company liveries on them. One guy decided to spend some of his own cash doing it up. Boss hit the roof, said it could invalidate the insurance and asked him to remove the light bars and other things he had done to his truck.

i drive what youd call a blinged up truck and my wages are very good, enough for me to live on,my gaffer has paid for the lightbars on my truck and the wheeltrims and various bits of stainless steel for the chassishe,s also paid for my truckfest entry .malc i know the lad who your on about.but the story about the night out money is a myth mate,he just spent a fortune on the truck he drove,he,s a good lad he doesnt work there anymore tho and the trucks been sold i think, when i worked at as taylor a few lads there paid for stuff using their night out money to pay for it.ive blinged up company trucks but ive never paid for it in that way.this issue of blinged up company trucks comes up on a regular basis.personnally i couldnt give a monkeys what people think of me and why i spend MY MONEY on a truck i dont own.i have my reasons.as i get older tho my tastes have changed,i dont like curtains with tassles on or stuff in the windscreen like flags etc all of which i had when i first started driving,i only like clear or amber L.E.D,S on the front of trucks, but they are my personal tastes but unlike some members on here i also dont feel the need to have a go at folk that like all the things i dont, its personal choice and if you like it thats all that matters.if every truck looked the same how boring.blinging trucks is not new go on the oldies forum theres trucks from the 50,s 60,s 70,s and 80,s there that have extra marker lights, wheeltrims, polished paint work,
neil i think this truck looks bostin somtimes less is more
and so does this one great photo by the way
please dont believe everything your told mate
d j ponsonby ran lots of trucks in there 21 yrs of road haulage and to my knowledge one truck was fitted with a light bar in 2001
wheel trims were brought by most of the drivers with there own hard earned cash
all of my trucks are blinged up carefully with style and while im operating trucks they always will be as i and my drivers take a pride in our work.
cheers
Mike

Would you take a job just to get a blinged up truck?
Remember reading somewhere recently that drivers from a company (can’t remember which one, wasn’t a big firm though) had agreed to give up a week (or 2) holiday pay in exchange for the company fitting light bars to the trucks.
Just made me think about how desperate some people must be to have a blinged truck…
sounds like Ponsonby .
i remember talking to one of their drivers in Charnock about the time the Volvo FH came out and he had one.
He was going on about how his boss took a couple of days hols off him to pay for chrome wheel trims and spotlight bars.
I told him he was off his head and chrome wheels dont pay mortgages.
I like seeing blinged up trucks but wouldn’t spend my own money doing one up. Less is more in my opinion, sideskirts, wind deflectors etc all cool, but kelsa bars and frilly curtains look abit gay personally.

Live and let live i say
If you dont like all the bits & bobs then dont buy em and mind your own business as regards too those who do
I don`t really go in for bling, i am happy with my fleet truck just the way it came from the dealer
And the change in jobs was for more money, better work and to work for a nice friendly bunch of people who don`t treat you like crap.
That’s your old motor Moyles !! I too have a new plastic Pete, all chrome and lights etc etc, looks ok if that’s your thing.Boss phoned me for the first time in a month on Monday, said I’m not working this weekend, flying a guy in from Calgary to cover for me,has told me to take the wife out for the night, good meal and hotel in the City, all on expenses.
mike your right i never paid anything while there .but the reason i said that was thats what jock said to me thats how he paid for some of his stuff on the 4 series he had mate
