Wohhhh wohhhh hang on a sec, no need to get personal, I’m trying my best with my weight but the doctor says I have a high metabolism.

I wonder if you hadn’t left him enough STOPPING DISTANCE when you pulled on front of him? As has been discussed here several times, the flash in isn’t to let you know you’re clear, it’s to let you know that the overtaken vehicle is happy with the gap in front. Some people think they don’t get flashed in because they never give anyone a chance before taking their front wipers off. Even so, very unprofessional of him to counter with a dangerous manoeuvre.

As for re-passing a vehicle, sometimes it just happens that to keep up you end up passing people on hills to have them pass you again - don’t take offence, it’s just a way of keeping the momentum going.

So, whilst overtaking him, you put your indicator on, he thought “he’s not clear yet, I’m not flashing him” (why don’t we sort a signal for ‘NOT YET YA FOOL!!’?) but you went in anyway causing him to take evasive action, so he burnt all his fuel savings to let you know you were in the wrong.

Am I close yet? :grimacing:

Well he did say he knew was a fair way clear in the detailed post. Anyway this kind of thing happens, forget it and move on, next person he may cause to crash, then he get his.

Just a quick question…

Which part of the A14 are you allowed to do 56mph on?
Especially the bit where “your speed declined… and were forced onto the grass at 56”

I must have missed that bit.

I agree with everything you have just said.

I had a lovely little duel with an autologic car transporter on the M25 anti clock from the M1 all the way round to M40 junction, all those up and down hills around maple cross and rickmansworth, we was both heavy but I was faster up hill, I would let it go to 60 and he would let it go a bit more down hill, he would come back over, I would come out, then he would bring me back in and he would go back out… no problems what so ever if two professionals do it properly.
People need to chill, “gotta get back into lane 1 ASAP” mentality is just as bad as a car drivers “gotta get in front of the truck” mentality. Chillllllllllllllllllllllllax bros!!!

“Professionals”

What happened at the M40, did one of you “professionals” pull off or get fed up

A “true professional” would have realised in the early stages on in the “duel” that the best bet would be to stop behind the other wagon,

and CHIIIIILAX

I used to do a run which could only just be done in 4.5 hrs, almost to the min if we ignored speed limits on a long A road, I used to take risks to get it done on time.

I was stupid.

Are YOU taking risks and driving badly to get the job done?

No it levelled out and I was faster.
A true professional could have done what we did, by relieving congestion and making progress by keeping momentum going so neither of us had to succumb to a slower speed by the other truck.
Don’t worry about it, you can sit behind a slower truck all you want if your too lazy to actually “drive” the thing and forward plan an overtake but all you are doing is causing a back log and feathering the throttle which is just as unpredictable as a car driver in lane 1.

chill please chill
nearly xmas

gsijay:
well wot can i say apart from your a [zb] and a danger on the road and i would have stopped in that layby if my company would allow me to stop !!! by the way i passed your details of your vechile to the police !!!

Is your name Bertie smalls? I’m sure your company could find you a back load to send to Coventry.

FarnboroughBoy11:
by relieving congestion

FarnboroughBoy11:
but all you are doing is causing a back log

Interesting logic you have there, so, two trucks “duelling” from the M1 to the M40 (approx 14 mile) are relieving congestion and two trucks “line astern” are causing a backlog

You BOTH arrived at the M40 at the same time, so neither gained anything by “elephant racing”.
If the other “professional” had stayed behind you (you being faster uphill) you would have still arrived at the M40 at the same time.

I am not a “lazy” driver, and I can “forward plan” a journey enough to realise that there is no point overtaking a vehicle that will come by me on the next hill.

lol, numb nuts, it is low not high if it was high you would of been anorexic and been able to that tad faster!

You haven’t even read what I said properly… We wernt side by side the whole way at all, we were letting each other go so both trucks benefitted from the down hill gradients to the full capacity rather than one truck sitting behind the other which would have been me.

If I had sat behind him on all the up hill gradients he would have been about 2 miles ahead of me by the time we got to the M40 and as I said I was faster on the limiter anyway so would have only caught him back up again on the flats thus having to overtake further down the line anyway
, so we done what we did and maxed our speeds and we both benefitted, no one had to succumb to the others speed and off i went, Everyone’s a winner.
