The fact of the matter is this, they are not racing. They are time trialling, the 2 things are different.I was a time triallist many years ago.
Not really sure what time trailing is, presumably it is a type of racing where the lowest time wins, but like in motor rallying they all set off at different times ? They always seem to opt for “A” & Trunk roads presumably with less hills and better road surfaces they should be better for setting fast times and personal bests etc.
They never seem to use the type of minor roads that I love to be on, but I guess they have too many big hills and the road surfaces can be very unpredictable, suits me though, I don’t like seeing anyone else when I’m out, like to be able to hear the sky larks singing.

This sort of thing goes on, on the A63 were the M62 ends and the A63 starts as you head into Hull. They start in Newport on the old A63, then join the main A63 and come off at the South Cave turn and down the other side. I dont mind cyclists just that they dont use alot of common sense when it comes to which roads to use for there “club racing”.
They’re time trialling for some club or other. One was actually killed not so long ago. Rode into the back of a caravan iirc.
Happens on the A19 from the Tontine down to Thirsk all the time, hard enough to spot one with a high viz on never mind one all in black lycra with his head down
Mailman:
In the New Forest between ashurst and Lyndhurst on the main road a nice wide cycle lane has been built for the cyclists to use.
Do they use it for their own and others safety? Do they zb
When told there’s a special road just for them they reply it’s not illegal to ride on the main ride
My response is it’s not illegal to eat my own ■■■ but that doesn’t mean I should do it
Yep, I know it well!
It seems the only cyclists that use it are the families, the lycra brigade would rather be seen dead than use it…
Don’t you mean end up dead than use it ?
Like the Zb that ride along Portsmouth and privett road between lee and Gosport and that has paths both sides [emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49][emoji49]
They often do it on the A19, what on earth makes them think it’s a remotely sensible idea I don’t know. I’m surprised more of them don’t get hit to be honest, but they’ll just say it’s their right to be in the carriageway. Basically they’re a gang of morons.
