The worst i had was a drop at Seaton Delavall in the North East , it was to a large American company whose name i`ve forgotten , we brought full loads of aerosol dispensors from Germany into there and they would send a full load back for one skid broken on a pallet this happened regularily. They had to be unloaded through the back doors onto a loading bay with an electric pallet truck. I opened the back doors on one occasion and the first pallet had the bottom skid cracked , they said take the full load back ,i offered to hand ball the pallet off they said no , i said well unload the rest from the side they said no take it back it was too dangerous to unload outside . The next time i went they said open your curtains driver we will unload you outside ffs !!!

This firm you are referring too was called Shultons The Old Spice after shave Co, Its now owned by Proctor & Gamble, And IMO It is a gamble when one goes there, The last time I was in their ■■■■■■■■ place was in the late 90s, What a crap place to deliver to, Regards Larry.

Hi Den…Good subject…

Best drop…Anything on a pallet, and a forklift…

Worse drop…Anything handball… :unamused:

Better still Dave-----Crane on and crane off—and even better (not too good a rate though :frowning: ) two Ford tractors ex an SOM trailer at their St Albans depot for Kendal, well it was a flying load to get back home PDQ which was OK occasionally but it was no good for J & A to have a motor m/t in Kendal in the middle of nowhere. Cheers Dennis.

I had previously done a few loads of Massey Fergusson tractors (sorry, Dennis- BRS job!) which involved positioning the trailer alongside the loading bay then the loader would drive five tractors on over the side. Job done, no problem.
Then I went into Ford’s factory at Basildon for a load of tractors for Newport. I reported to the office and was told to put the trailer against the loading bay and the loader would come to me when he finished his break. Being a know-all 21-year-old I positioned the trailer alongside the loading dock just as I had at the MF factory. When the loader duly arrived ( about an hour later) he took one look at the way I was parked and disappeared, only to return later accompanied by his shop steward who proceeded to tell me that I could either turn my vehicle round so they could load it “properly” or get out through the gates and never come back again. So I trundled three Ford tractors from Essex to South Wales. You can’t help some people. Or some companies.
