Itās a sad thing for me to say but after each visit back home the best section of road in Britain is the tunnel back into Heathrow Airport.
I may miss my family but I donāt miss England once I have been back there for a fortnight

A66 at night
The A66 anytime of night or day especially with the weight of 500 spring lambs on board thank god for the exhaust brake.
A young lad came steaming past me one day penrith bound with a lovely old scammell but sadly I passed him down by the snap wagon with smoke pouring out that poor old truck.
Coffeeholic:
No contest, the road home at the end of the week
well done coffee that was going to be my answerā¦
the one facing home.

A30 west of Exeter
definitely a nice road, especially once you get past okehampton
the A884 from strontian to lochaline, done that road twice now once with a 45ft load of steel and second time with 60ft load of steel
check it out on the map and you.ll see what i mean, very very hard work but breathtaking all the same

Agreed. Touching 3 digits on the clock in the car is about right and for the wagon, as fast as it will go
Used to drive up/down from Leeds to Anniesland area of Glasgow nearly every weekend and the A66 is a dream at 2am on a Sunday morning. Door to door in 2hrs 45mins was the shortest time Iāve done it, Iām embarrassed to say
and itās 222 miles on the nose.
Other favourite roads are those in the Snowdonia area of Wales - the Llanberis Pass being a good one and any out of Blaeau Ffestiniog and Beddgelert are excellent driving/biking roads.
Iāve pulled 27 tonne of Montracon trailer axle parts over The Snake from Sheffield to Glossop twice this week in the artic and that can be a challenging road in places although much of it is rather steady and boring for me.

Should have said to him ādo you want the number?ā. I havenāt met anyone that has an instant answer to that one yet.
Was to busy smirking to come out with some sarcastic retort but you should of seen him bright red but looking like this
I think when i flew past him he lost his rythmn and dropped his copy of readers lambs so he was a bit [zb]ed at me

Best bit of road is without doubt the A9 all the way to Inverness.
Actually T C is right I remember driving up to Inverness to do the Loch Moy show, it is truely the most pleasing road in the UK
About half way along there is a tea and gift shop, I stopped on the side of the road and went in for lunch, and before you tell me not to park on the highway I was really pulled into a sort of layby
best bit of road is the road home but also worst between 07.30 - 09.00 am then 03.00 - 03.30
as i live near a school
Without a doubt,it has to be the M45 from junction 17 of the M1,which takes you west across to to Coventry and the west Mids.Never any traffic, and always incident free! Sometimes you are the only one on the road and thats in the daytime.Good visibility, road surface, and nice countryside all round! Class!
The M45 True itās quiet, and scenic, but the road surface must be original. Itās like a never-ending rumble strip.
Not in a truck, but went for a ride out the other week and finished up on the A470, Brecon down towards Merthyr. Nice wide road with fanatastic scenery. Such a pity that there are no opportunities to walk the waterās edge of the reservoirs.
Turned off when we saw the signs to the Brecon Railway. And then again got turned off when I saw the price of the fares. Followed the the country lanes back to Crickhowell.
My favourite stretch is probably across the Cotswolds between Stow on the Wold and Burford. Past the Rissingtons, where the Red Arrows used to fly out of, and where you can turn off and actually park outside a village convenience store. Thereās also an Architectural Reclamation yard almost opposite. Pricey, but an interesting way to break up a journey, if youāre that way inclined. Turning round is no problem because all you do is carry on until you see the signs saying āUnsuitable for Large Vehiclesā, hang a left into the former aerodrome, and just follow a āround the blockā pattern.
Burford is always fun. Terrorising the tourists playing, āIf you think Iām stopping on THIS hill, yourā¦ā
