The big windfarm in the Solway Firth has to work at 80% efficiency just to break even on cost, about a year ago the average efficiency was about 28%. That says all you need to need to know about them monstrosities. And now the subsidy has been stopped maybe we wont get any more of the horrible bloody useless things.
They are certainly suitable for off shore and micro generation
Really every new house should have one .
We should have all had smart meters fitted that let you put electricity back into grid . but its looking like 10 years off now .
Dont think all turbines are propeller types . the box ones with globe shaped turbine inside are really efficient and work in next to no wind .
There are many different types and none are as ugly as smog !

Saying they dont break even is tricky subject as fossil alternatives are kept at artificially low cost . do you really think oil can be found , extracted , transported , refined , transported and retailed at less cost than a can of coke or bottle of water ■■?
And nuclear fission alternatives is subsidised heavily plus no mention of cost of cleaning all that ■■■■ up

Im just out that a country like ours that becomes self sufficient in renewable energy will have huge competitive advantage for its industry .
It will also be able to become self sufficient in food and water .
And it will provide hope for our kids futures.
None of the fossil fuel alternatives do that
