Ā£10.35ph, over 37 hrs = Ā£388 or so, agency are taking profit margins, holiday pay, tax obviously, company deducations and expenses and iām coming away with about Ā£180 per week. (yes i know ), iām Ā£40 for digs/rent and at least about Ā£20 for food, and then another Ā£40 for fuel to work the next week, so by the time that all comes off iām left with about Ā£100.

Iām on Ā£6.50ph over 39 hours through an agency with all the holiday etc. deductions and I take home more than that
you need to get onto the agency and find out what they are playing at

I already have mate but theyāre confirmed Iām on the correct tax code and all the rest of it, Iāve queried it several times but they seem to think itās okay. To be honest Iām a little frightened to threaten them to fix it or Iāll go but I know that Iāll struggle to find something else whereas I know they will/can replace me 10 minutes after Iām gone.

Mate, the first rule of working for an agency is to never believe a word they say. If they told me it was raining I wouldnāt believe it 'till Iād looked.
Youāre being shafted for sure-you MUST chase this upā¦they are stealing money from you and they are bang out of orderā¦NEVER, EVER let them pay you A SINGLE PENNY less than they owe. I would chase them up for 10p if they owed it meā¦and that way they donāt try it onā¦
I would start by contacting the tax office and find out what tax code etc. you are. Most agency owners couldnāt work out the cost of a bus ride, let alone the cost of taxā¦notice how the error is in their favour not yours? A typical agency ploy mate and you have to sort thisā¦
Well Iāve phoned both the agency and the payroll company they go through and both confirm everything should be in order⦠pretty sure my tax code is 810L.
Iām booking some paid holiday to get out of there as itās stressing me out. At least that way I can divert my full attention to looking for work again.

So Iād anticipate clearing about Ā£250 a week after tax.
Tax and NI contributions are roughly 25%. For the £388 you quoted Sam, you should be getting roughly £300 of it in your pocket.
Somebody is having your pants down lad⦠and to the tune of Ā£120 a week! Time to get your Grandma involved I think. Sheās had a busy weekend but Iām sure sheāll be able to help you, it is her Revenue & Customs after all.
