Bedford Lorries, you used to see them everywhere

But we (I) did - 6foot and over as well - not the Ritz but better than most of the digs available at the time

Fair play to you. Drove a couple in my early days and still got a crick in my neck caused by peering under the top of the windscreen

Had a KM unit - same problem with trying to see out of the windscreen, but earned enough with it to buy a decent motor with a sleeper cab

Caught in Belgium, 2019, and seen on one of my usual French forums this morning. TK cab, but looks a bit heavy.

Its a unit based on a KH, the model below the KM at 14.7 tonnes.

Thanks! I had never heard about that KH model before.

One from Co. Durham Tyneside

Do any of you know a good website listing all he models and versions produced on the basis of the TK cab? It looks there were many more than I thought.Thanks.

Google Bedford vehicles, and locate the Wikipedia page, there is an extensive history of the marque. At the very end there seems to be a list of all models some with links to photos etc, could be good starting point.

You’ll need the link so here it is:

Thanks to both of you, but wikipedia’s page is quite incomplete. No pictures of the KM, nothing about the KH, and nothing either concerning driving lines (engines, gearboxes).

Some interesting pictures of many Bedford models here:

Here is a photo of a KH. You’ll notice the front wings are wider and bigger and fold down at the back to give better access to the engine

Thank you for that Carl. To be honest I’d never heard of the KH until this week! We learn a lot on TNUK

The TK range started with the KA up to the KM and then from about 76 on they were renamed TK570 to TK1630(KM).

This is one of my fathers KH’s 22 ton gross /14ton payload,466 engine same as a KM.we had this old girl for a good few years, and got excellent service from it.we had another that only had the TK bumper, and a 2speed axle.

And another KH
Both of ours were ex Vauxhall fleet motors.

Always amazed me that Bedford didn’t bring out an eight wheeler version of the TM primarily for the construction industry, unless of course they did but it failed, I certainly can’t recall ever seeing one.

I agree-a ■■■■■■■ powered TM eight legged would have been a big seller I’m sure

I think you had to go to the southern hemisphere to find those:

Why on earth didn’t they sell them in the uk?

Erewash Transport ran a four axle TM tipper but I guess that it was a conversion?
