I was just reminiscing about my old Jeep Wrangler which I bought from Canada to go to Banjul with. It went down in a container eventually along with many of my belongings. Much the simplest way.
I just wondered if the car parts shop is still open in Serekunda, Did the 113 ever get beyond Maroc?

If you are doing this trip to make a profit and you are expecting to be 800 quid cheaper than a container for get it that 800 quid will soon be swallowed up with blow outs and air filters and that is assumimg that nothing mechanical goes wrong. Just think about it the trucks in the Dakar Rally are specially prepared with stacks of spares on board and more than 30 % dont even get as far as Dakar.
…and they have tons of security and some still get alot of bother from angry locals!
Due to the Political situation in the area they no longer run the Dakar rally in North Africa, but instead go to South America. So I would’nt put much hope in a truck getting there unsupported.
I think if you’re looking for adventure then maybe look at something else. A trip round the M25 can be quite exciting.

John mann and breda are 2 firms that departed the industry a long long time ago.
No [zb] Sherlock… the thread is 6 years old…
Malc, what did you go to Banjul for with your belongings and a jeep? I think that could make for an interesting story!
It is a long story Rob and I may put it into words one day. Basically it involved a midlife crisis, a woman and a sense of adventure. It was the best and worse two years of my life
The thread is six years old because of an internet search that I was doing about the 4.2 engine in my Wrangler
Nothing is exported from The Ghambia except groundnuts and malaria, both are plentiful !! went to go there a few years ago on a twelve month charter, the little ship I took has languished alongside ever since and never moved a thing. Like Wheelnut I also went because of a female type crisis, must be catching

We managed a little sideline in exporting your real genuine juju to the colonies, it kept me and my American Hippy “business partner” in Julbrew and Irish Blackboy We had them made up by the locals and wrote our own messages inside them about love, harmony and world peace.
Went there in 88’ yes I too went to the dock to look at the old lorries loading containers
whilst my better half stayed by the pool. Anyway didn’t come back empty handed…I got bloody malaria!
I think I have pics somewhere too…off the dock
