No company no matter how straight they are would want the vostapo at their door, so if it was common knowledge you ran bent for a company for months then decided to grass them up few people are gonna want you working for them because the last thing anyone wants is a visit from dvsa or any other government agency. So that last thing anyone wants is someone working for them that is going to run off tell tails no matter how morally justified they must be.
Haulage can be pretty tight knit i go for a job interview they ask where ive worked before usually the guy doing the interview will know someone at a place ive worked on first name terms. I better believe will call up ask them about you.
Another problem is this isnt America not exactly gonna get a plea bargin. VOSA will thank you for the information then do you as well. Even if you do it in secret will come out youve been running bent for months and you will get done anyways.

true I don’t doubt for a second vosa would screw you over. but I still think a single grassing up would not block too many jobs. bragging/disclosing it too too many may though!
