remember if you do grass them then too get too him they have too get the drivers first and you wont get any slack cut because you grassed.

If you have refused to break any laws despite him putting pressure on him then it is fair enough that you feel a sense of grievance if he’s sacked you for that. But if you have been breaking the law and engaged in this 20-hour day nonsense then reporting him is not really cricket, unless you plan to report yourself as well. Can’t have it both ways.i had complained to the owner about him i also refused to do weekends i needed to pay my bills mortgage and knew i had to get out of this job as was breaking the rules and it was madness. I have a new job now doing UK work only with what feels like a good firm running straight but i needed a week to attend interviews so im happy i got pushed as it gave me the time to sort things. the question is doing i let DVSA know the score to what these cowboys are doing even though i run the risk of being dragged in as well. I get on with the drivers there and have told them what i might do and not to do any thing that may drop them in it so i have warned them so fell i have been fair to them. I dont think i would like to hear that a family where wiped out a month down the road and i said nothing
can you live with yourself for being a tout/grass?
touts have a reputation for getting found out,as just as you grass someone up,then someone will gladly drop a dime on you in return.
let the ones that are happy working there ,just work there. you’ve left cos it didn’t suit you.theres plenty that like work like that so long as they get paid…work for someone that suits you,and let the rest get on with it if it suits them as well…cant stand the heat■■?
Some strange angles on this.
I wouldn’t worry about being snidey. No honour amongst thieves. Also wouldn’t worry about the honour of disrupting a company that runs crooked. Live by the sword, die by the sword. They’re only ripping off the companies who do it legally and don’t pressure their drivers to run bent.
To me this is more about the black and white, you’re involved yourself so you’ll be digging your own box. Keep your gob shut and move on.
Bottom line is the authorities just don’t give that much of a crap about the 3.5t sector. It’s outside of operator licensing and unregulated.
I’d wipe your mouth and walk away dvsa will Nick you if they can and as a lots on 3-5 ton they won’t want the gag anyway
The-Snowman:
Im with dipper_dave on this one. You stayed with said Company for 4 months and the law breaking didnt bother you enough. But when they let you go,you suddenly develop a need to report them. Very very snidey in my opinion. The time to report (if thats what you want to do) was the first instance you realised it was going on.
Did you take part in any driving hours breaking? Because if you did,and they put 2 and 2 together, then you can bet your arse your name will be at the top of the pile when they hand over drivers hours documents to the authorities
Okay maybe if i had walked away not having to battle for what they owe me in wages i might say nothing and move on I now have a new job within a week of going and i am not dependent on a driving career. This company have been trading 3 years and my post has lead to 3 people naming this firm without me saying who it is. So how many drivers out there are owed money and gone though what i am at present i did do what i did in a van but not a HGV and never drove lorry after being in a van like others our doing. Do i take a hit but stop all drivers who work there in the future having to do so also if i do will i stop someone being killed , how would i feel if i say nothing and i hear that they have killed someone these people are ■■■■■■■ and need to be stoped

Your contradicting yourself here. You’d say nothing if not for the wages, yet you might not be able to live with yourself if you say nothing and someone gets killed? So it wouldnt bother you as long as you get paid? I dont believe that so ill assume youve worded things wrong.
I dont buy into the whole “dont be a grass” thing. If law breaking is going on,especialy at the scale you mnentioned, then report it you should. But as I said, the time was four months ago. Not when youve been doing it but decided now youve been sacked/let go that it should be stopped. Remember when your playing the killed family card that you have been doing the 15/20 hour driving days for four months. You are no saintly whistle blower. If they hadnt let you go,youd still be doing it
Only you can decide what you want to do but based on your last couple of sentances it sounds like youve already made up your mind. Just be prepared for the inevitable backlash because
A - you told your former collegues what you intended to do and
B - you have also been massivly exceeding your driving hours
Im not looking for an argument and im not trying to have a go. But me personally, the first time anyone told me I was going all that distance, and doing all that driving and work, with no break and expected to come back and then go into an hgv and do more, they would have got the keys chucked at them and told “see ya”. I wouldnt have done ANY of it.

Most people fail to realise this. Most people just look at it from the hardman hero angle of drivers running bent coz they’re so hard and proper but actually it’s anti-competitive to run bent as those who run legal are at a disadvantage. For example, if company X don’t have to pay their drivers night out money because their drivers will work 17 hour days then they can offer lower rates on some contracts.
This just leads to rates being cut, something which is moaned about on here on a daily basis.
Who named them on here then? I certainly never. ■■■■ em mate. They’ll come unstuck soon enough. Enjoy yer’ new job. I love mine!
You can name him and shame him but he will still be there next week or next year, you might as well be reporting someone for driving there car over ten hours for all the good it will do there is no record, if you have people willing to sleep across two seats in a van and driving all them hours it will always happen, needs must.
OVLOV JAY:
An operator doesn’t break drivers hours rules. The clue is in the word driver
This.
I walked away from a South Wales company because they expected you back regardless of time left. I didn’t have a job to go to but as someone who has been involved in a inquest to their fathers death, I know only too well the kind of questions asked when a death is involved, and I was not prepared to stand up there and face a family because I’ve driven over the hours regulations and possibly tired. A bit ■■■■? Yes, but I’m not prepared to put someone through what we went through.

sleep1 named them and your right them pricks will come unstuck will be putting a county court judgement on them this week for not paying me what i,m owed
If what you say is true, you should buy the guy a drink, by sacking you from a firm like that he did you a favour, you should have done yourself a bigger favour by leaving, somethings are just not worth it…

Your properly right in what you say as i had the time to find a new job which i start today as for leaveing wanted to but would any one put there home at risk by not paying there mortgage people need to know i don,t have my HGV licence yet so not as easy to find a new job.
deck21:

You played the “if a family got killed I couldnt live with myself if I said nothing” card, yet here you admit you didnt leave and did 15-20 hours driving because your mortgage needed paid? You were fine with doing it and keeping quiet when the money was there. Your telling me there were NO other jobs at all you could go to,just because you have no HGV license?
Look mate, its obvious you want to report them and at least 90% of it is out of anger at being let go. Youve posted at least two examples so far to prove that.
Im on the report side of it so I dont think its a bad thing you do,but dont try to kid us on your worried sick someone might get killed if you dont stand up and be counted. You should have refused to do any of those driving stints and reported company then and there.
If you feel so strongly that this firm is breaking the law like you say they are then crack on and report them.
if you do report them then I just hope they have nothing on you to prove you was doing all them hours Otherwise you’ll be having a day in court with the rest of them.
