Often though about doing this, but put off by the thought of having to sleep either across the seats on in a tiny pod!Are there really companies that put drivers up in hotels on this sort of work?
Yes I do, up to £70 with receipt or £48 if driver wants to kip on seats
That doesnt sound bad atal.
50 quid bonus a day for slumming it, i thought all van operators took the pish. Obv not.

It’s not all slumming it by the pool you know
Where in the country are you?
not really far from you, in Barnsley.
Good luck Ade mate Karma is always the way to go, especially when it’s nice and cold
Regards
Dave Penn;
I’ve only ever worked for 1 van co that required sleeping across the seats. It’s been well publicized on here a few years ago. Even the Mickey Mouse co in Brum I worked for 2 years ago had a form of bunk fitted behind the bulkhead. See? It’s not all bad!
as I stated before,if I could find a van job driving a sprinter earning the same money as class 1, I would tell D V L A to poke the hgv licence, after 26 yrs there is no enjoyment anymore in driving hgvs
I’ll be more than doubling my current wage in a class 2, to a van!
Any decent companies in the West Midlands?

I’ll be collecting my van in Swindon, doing a couple of UK collections in the South, then off to Alicante on a 7 day round trip. Doing a couple of deliveries/ collects down there and back to the UK for deliveries in the South. Am doing this x3 times per month. Plus I ain’t doing it for £80 per day either.
Got to say, that sounds flippin’ ace, do you go down through France or sail straight to Spain??

Will be driving it bud…The best way in my opinion. Although would be nice once in a while to get a boat. But it is my favourite route in the end.

I can tell you one to avoid. (Privately!) If you WANT to be driven into the ground and hardly sleep/ see your Wife/ kids etc…I’ll gladly put you in touch.
I’ll let the guy who operates the van worry about the rates Dan…I feel your pain mate. I would go it alone if I thought there was any dough in it.
Vern is that everyone’s favorite mob with sprinter in the midlands
Rates still haven’t changed small vans as a sunny are on 60-70ppm big stuff is 90-110 if your lucky enough to get it. All is paid one way. I have heard of guys doing small van work with sprinters for 35ppm wtf .
The reason companies push so hard on van work is the is planned that way a hotshot to italy will be given a 24hr window to he completed usually
I won’t say who it is on here if you don’t mind. But I’ll just say it’s not from the Midlands.
Thought euro van work was pretty much the preserve of the flip blokes in their Renaults and Peugeots with the standard tilt bodies and the pods.
There must be thousands of them about now.
Sometimes you see them in convoy ffs.
Some businesses refuse to bow to the Eastern regime and stick with their trusted haulier. I’m greatful for that to say the least.
I’m interested in some van work, lost interest in driving trucks lately , used to think bigger was better , got class 1, hiab & ADR but just not interested in trucks anymore, Vern can you give some more info on some companies to look at , cheers
Basically…No, I don’t know where to start. I posted an ad on a Facebook page looking for work. I got a couple of offers. Good luck anyway!
