Hey guys, could someone give me some on info on this tried google but no luck. I have a B+E on my licence can i told a trailer that will be heavier than my car isit legal?

Depends on the car, the handbook will give a definitive answer. I’m fairly certain the Discovery I had could tow 3500 kgs which was more than the car weighed.

This is correct, look in your handbook and it will give the max towing weight for your car, which is normally heavier than the car.
The caravan club and other bodies recommend that you tow at 85% of the cars kerb weight, but this is only a recommendation and not a rule and is only really relevant for inexperienced towers
A rule of thumb is that you can tow a caravan up to 100% match but it is best not to go over this figure due to the height and length of the van and could end up with the tail wagging the dog
Only go up to the max towing weight if you are towing a low loaded trailer or another car for example

Yes My Mk3 Mondeo Estate can legally tow 1800kg and the Mk4 's can legally tow 2000kg. both well over the weight of the vehicle

cant tow a trailer over 750kg on my car!

Then your car must have a GVW between 2750 and 3500 for that to be true
OR
the manufacturer has imposed a 750 kg towing limit on it
Which of those is it?

Probably a SMART car or something like that??

Doubt it very much as Smart car and several others like it are not homoligated for towing according to Towsure Catalogue

Can someone confirm this is true? My HGV expiry (for medical) is 24-11-21, but my BE is 24-11-46, and I previously didn’t have BE due to passing car test after April 1997

Thanks mate, thats one more that confirms that getting the B+E by passing C+E means that the B+E gets the same expiry date as the B category which means the B+E stays on the licence for as long as the B remains valid so basically for life

In the majority of cases it is safer to have the trailer lighter than the towing vehicle - same goes for W&Ds

I think the disco is about 2800 GVW and can tow 3500 because it is designed to do it
