Australia then and now

Thanks for that @SDU, I knew about Kurt and his history, but really interesting to see it all again.

As a former flag marshal, I’m quite surprised at the lack of safety for officials, spectators and teams.
I was still at school in '69.
Production cars and multiple class races were far more interesting than the current formula type racing.

For the life of me I can’t do F1: give me a rally stage or a club event any day of the week. Same goes for bikes: I’m not suggesting for a minute that MotoGP isn’t way more exciting than F1, but give me Superbike races. And then there’s the IoM TT and the Manx GP and the Ulster TT and…

The current Super V8 series is a formula, same chassis, same gearbox/transaxle, the only difference being Ford or Chev engines. The carbon fibre skins are even interchangeable.

Lot of people love it but I can’t be bothered watching V8 Supers.

Mr Lightburn should have stuck to washing machines and hydraulic jacks, but at least he had a crack.
Many of those photos were taken at the National Motor Museum, in the Adelaide Hills.

Love it, especially the gearbox, just like the 3 wheeled Ape van which sits in my back garden and used for storage. 4 forward gears, then throw a lever and they all go backwards. But at least the Ape has a back door with all the advantages of a commercial for space, surely the biggest drawback of the Zeta, no rear hatch.

Despite being a keen, young car buff in that era, I’ve never seen one outside a museum.

Not Oz but still crocs in yesterday’s news:

Huge croc? I wonder how they would define a six metre specimen.

It’s all relative, I suppose: Indonesians are only little

Never mind the crocs, it’s those Dragons they have to be lively with.

London to a brick, the last one comes from well north west of here.

I thought we had the monopoly on braindead drivers apparently not

Who’s the tw!@ in the FH at 1:10? Who’s that ā– ā– ā– ā–  at 6:10? Professionals my hairy ar(s)e.

By no means at all. You’d think that with a population <1/3rd of the UK and a helluva lot more space to practice, people here would’ve worked it out.

@parkroyal2100 1:10 also from the north west,6:10 possibly not, the load is still intact.
Was the intro your town?

No, it’s Armidale. Come this Saturday, here… ā€œ-2 to 5, showers, snow above 900mā€.

Glad I don’t work in big cities any more.
