Acording to my TM he founded Astrans back in the day but sold it on, goes by the name of Ron Perfect

Asked him this morning, they are not related, are you sure it is Dave, he has a cousin in Essex Rob Perfect who has about 30 trucks doing container work, I just looked on the web site for D Perfect, looks like the same family, he must be the son of Rob

Nice one
My mentor was John Williams (God Rest His Socks) after he came back from Saudi.
Was that the guy that pioneered the M/E runs and had a spread done about him in one of the magazines recently (last year or so)? I would check but 'er indoors threw out the “old mags”
she might be following them though
If it is i remember a photo of him making bacon butties and something about using a coin for a Czech exit visa if that makes sense and if so can someone please explain?
Cheers
JW worked for Astran as a mechanic, but he was also a driver. with his own trucks
He worked down in Saudi repairing boats for a while, then came home to daventry.
I think the Czech exit visa was a 5 Deutsche mark piece with ink on it to stamp your carnet. It leaves a nice imprint of an Eagle
There was a magazine article about John doing a Charity run to Albania, he got some very bad press about that, and never forgave the organisers. He told me that he had warned these muppets not to follow him over the mountain without chains. He waas going to bring them back in a land rover after he got over the top. Someone decided he knew better and tried to follow him, blocking the road for days.
I wish he was here to carry on the story

A couple of 5p pieces and a pair of Mole grips do a wonderful job of impersonating a TIR seal…
John Williams would be the chap with the beard from the Destination Doha DVD I take it? I was absolutely fascinated by that footage and watched it again and again. What a knowledgeable bloke. Has he passed away now?
