Well Bowser you ve got a good point there , no one is making you read these tales of derring do .
I cant believe it took you this long and you went with that comeback , are you having a laugh
Ohhh and by the way i havenât read any of it , too much info on the screen for me and i find it difficult to read it , but that doesnât mean he should stop writing it ( infact he should keep it going ). Not sure i even know what your problem is but you clearly have one .
Much like you have he has the right to post his story as he remembers it and as he seeâs fit .
There doeâs seem to be alot of problems on the old folk forum these days it is like zimmer frames at dawn . Everytime it happens i have this image in my head of old chaps chasing eachother down the road waving walking sticks , its quite funny really âŚ
Not sure what your point is Bowser, Im not offended by your somewhat obtuse comments, what my point really is that this is not so much as my first international trip but more of an attempt to write a book encompassing my first trip Jazzandys not mine, be that as it may I don t know how old youy are or even who you are and despite being 71 next year and having more years driving all over many foreign lands I can assure you that all my faculties are still with me. On a lighter note Fred you ve tempted me into maybe just maybe recounting the 10 days with the girls all the salient details will be there but it probably won t run to more than two pages. Crow. Steve have nt sold the house yet the way the market is here you can t give stuff away never mind sell it, my intention is to return to the UK and then before Bowser has me in my box go to Cyprus for a couple of years. Will certainly pass on your best to Corrie and hope to stop a few going sour with him, stay lucky mate

Swapsies,Iâll betâŚand for 10 days!!!..God help me!!
Wait for it Dave wait for it. Perhaps I can get Corrie to come out over Xmas and we can have a meet somewhere and chew the fat as well as the turkey. Crow.
If you re-read what i posted geoff youâll see i put two smiley things into it it wasnât meant to be me having a go , im stating a fact thats all .
Kind of proves my point really that sometimes what gets posted gets taken far too serious by some on here .
From what ive read it seems to me that someone has a problem with either what heâs posted or or the facts of what he posted and all im saying is if someone has a problem then dont read it , that was what i meant and nothing more .
It may be a good idea for people to lighten up abit dont you think ? > >>>>>> Thats a big cheeesy grin smiley just incase

A little taster Fred.We tossed up for the girls and I got the one with the â â â â â â â â â â â â ,the Crow got the nice slim one with the great figure(I think he had a 2 headed 10p piece). We took them back to Istanbul and then lost them for a couple of days while we did the customs and unloaded our 2nd hand tractors. They met us again as arranged when we leaving to reload in Italy,The Crow was loading Verona I was loading at Albiniâs Prato. We left Istanbul,me with â â â â â â â â â â â â Kim and Geoff with nice figure Nicky.Kim not only had the biggest â â â â youâve ever seen, she also had the biggest appetite youâve ever seen.TBC (maybe)
You canât leave it there driver , can you elaborate on those knockers and this story would be better with pictures.
I donât suppose that Nickey The Kiwi mentioned anything about going to the Appleby Horse Fair did she Tony.
Steve, Fred, and the rest we re not going to leave it there, even my appetite is whetted now but without too much embellishment it s going to take a little longer to make this particular journey into the unknown believable and hopefully enjoyable. Ill work on it over the weekend and strangely enough Bullit your wife s uncle the famous Stanley has a walk on role in it. Don t hold your breath regards, Crow.
Fred, we re way off any nitty grittybut we ll start nowand Jazzandy and Carbon I completely get your point now that writing a literary masterpiece is far more difficult than at first glance. What shall we call it,A Brief Sojourn in The Life of an International Truck Driver, no, better How to Further Anzac British Relations without Really Trying. Itwas the dark of the moon, way way past June and we wer nt hauling pigs, six 2nd hand Massey Fergies nestled snuggly in our rigs. With apologies to Kris Kristofferson and later DLT who parodied this classic far worse than me, Rubber Duck indeed but we did have us aconvoy.Tony and me had loaded 6 each from various dealers mainly up North and we were due to meet the co/owner George Hart somewhere on the A1. It was late September 1984. Now George whose Turkish partner Candamir Tufan, John to his mates had aquired an ex Sperry Rand Transcon PPR 980 R 335E â â â â â â â 9 speed Fuller and double deck step frame trailer, the top deck being detachable. It had been designed to carry balers so did nt carry much weight, the tractor had a Hiab mounted behind the cab for self un loading, a very neat and in those days rare piece of kit.The completerig later came to us and the trailer Steve is the very same used to recover the Mi East Minerals Scania buts that s another story. After an un eventful run thru France and Italy we entered Yugo at Fernetti/Sezana and then on to the Nacional amazing Jazzer 800 miles or so in one sentence. The Autocesta in those days started at the Peage at the bottom of the big hill south of Beograd and several hours later weve done the Peage at Nis and off we go we re using Ipsala bolloks to Kapic too much traffic and too many delays. We re trundling down the highway it s not far off dark when George suddenly pulled into a parking on the left, we follow in what s the matter, I m losing a tractor he said and he s running with the top deck up, the greedy get has loaded 8 tractors and the very first one is hanging half off.We struggle the sod back into place and chain it properly. He drove like a lunatic no wonder he nearly lost it. We ve all done this route and not far after Kumanovo in the Skopje area is a services it s beginning to â â â â down so we all agree to park there for the night.Bloody Hell 2 fried eggs and chips washed down with Skopsko pivo beautiful.Just to digress for a moment the cabs had all been cut off the tractors the Turks did nt want them and because of an age restriction all the chassis Nos ground off and restamped and George had got christ knows where from new I.D. plates which had ayear code stamped on and chassis Nos.This tricky get knew it all and you Saviem will know this being a farmer they wanted heavy cast wheels not not pressed steel and wafer weights which are mounted forward of the front axle to give more stability. What s this got to do with the 2 girls you may ask, everything because its the lead in to what Bogart said Of all the Gin Joints in All The World you had to pick mine. TBC eventually. Crow.
Get to the point Crow, youâve just written half a page of waffle. At this rate itâll be next year before you get to the good parts.Remember I was there,so Iâll be vetting and editing any deviations from the truth, any exaggerations and/or embellishments. You may get away with a little poetic license, only because your elephant-like memory is better than mine. Now get on with it!!!
What s your hurry Tony it is after all an event of monumental importance from 28 years ago and I can t realisticly charge 9.99 for this classic without tempting and stretching the readers imaginations alittle can I thats if there are any readers. Im off to the pub where with any luck the amber liquid will serve to jog my memory a little further, don t wait up for me.Crow.
