Leeds police today pulled over a car driven by a Pakistani, they were amazed to find that the car was taxed, MOT’d insured and not stolen and carried no threat or being an illegal taxi and the driver wasn’t ■■■■■■ and also had a full driving licence with no points on it
A police spokesperson said that the constable had no choice than to fine Abdul £80 for wasting police time.
Looking for information,on the UCC BRENTWOOD forum page 11 there is a photo of a UNION CARTAGE fridge lorry in Turkey,it seems that it was taken by an Asian Transport driver in about 1972, I knew 4 drivers but can only remember 2 of there names ■■■■ Snow and John Frost.would any body still be around.I dont think ■■■■ would still be around but John would be well into his 70s. I know it was called Astran but before I can only remember it being Asian Transport. Terry
I had a pleasant surprise today - Kenny Ward phoned me for a natter (50 mins) never a dull moment when you get chatting with Ken, we drifted down memory lane with many old names mentioned by Kenny who is still in touch with them and confirmed that they are still kicking about, he himself still does a bit and wishes to be remembered to all that knew and ran with him on M/E
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a great Xmas and to wish you all that you would hope for in 2014

Hi Fred,
I had a message from Ken last June, he was very well then. I must nip down the A38 one of these days and treat him to a Coffee, or maybe a swift Half.
Hi,
I’m pretty sure I took these pics at the “mirrors”.I run with the Dutchman and and the German in the red scania
a few times. The Dutchman spoke Dutch,English and German,I spoke English and Flemmish (Dutch) and the German
could only manage his language and that’s how we got on.
The top picture is just coming in to Tartous from Volos, the middle and bottom ones are onboard
one of the 2 ferrys. The guy on the left is the Dutchman who was an O/D and the hairy-arsed little
■■■■ with the camera is the German who drove for August Schuster of Herborn Germany.

The German looks like the younger Werewolf in “Carry on Screaming”!
Anyone notice that belly tank on the trailer in the bottom pic? Looks “inflated” , like someone has lit a fire underneath it at some point but forgot to take the fuel cap off until it was nearly to late!
More like too much air whilst blowing the squirt over !!
My thoughts exactly, though the Belly Tank on one of my trailers was built with an ovalish shape and ends, very hard to measure or fathom out the contents.
LOL

Remembering escapades with Belly tanks, reminded me of one in East Germany.
As this company from Essex only ran Transcons at the time, all their trailers were equiped with the same two inch delivery hose from the belly tanks, all just long enough to reach inside the transcons diesel tank. One sunday morning in one of the services in DDR, which was a regular stopping place for the brits when transiting. One driver decided to fill up with cherry from his belly tank, so he uncoiled the filler hose and stuck it into the running tank, he then jumped up onto the unit and swapped the red air line over from the brakes to the belly tank and turned on the air line tap, he then jumped down and went to the tank to watch the diesel filling the tank, to discover that nothing was coming out of the hose!! it was then that the penny dropped, he had forgotten to turn on the outlet tap on the belly tank. Panicking he dived under the trailer and opened the tank valve fully, but before he could get back to the running tank filler, the pressure of the diesel had blown the hose out of the top of the tank and was snaking about spraying everything in range with red diesel. Nearby was a caravan which was covered in cherry and the noise that it must have been making had disturbed the big German owner who opened the door to get covered in the stuff, whereby he promptly retreated closing the door behind him. there was then a fast exit of the british trucks that were left in the parking before the police arrived. It was like a scene from the movies and very funny to think back on.

Can I join in!!! X Contex/OHS lad, from Birmingham so I hated the MAC’S as couldnt pull trailer in UK. The Seddons for me were great, LHD/■■■■■■■■■ I could transit Dover and clear at Perry Barr, right where I lived. I am hoping to come back on the road before I retire fully so to finish off. !!!

Welcome to the thread, hope you enjoy it, and if you have some pics etc from past travels then put them up!
Welcome to the threads. Don’t forget there is already an OHS thread that you might find interesting. Also read my “Christmas Tale
The real Story” thread. That’s all about OHS.
Might bring back some memories!
Just found this pic in a old Mag’!
What an epic thread! I only did a handful of Middle-East trips (plenty to North Africa though), but here are a few pics of my M/E runs. I’ll try and dig some more out. The Scania 112 was DKH 118Y, a naturally-aspirated 305 seen here at Londra Camp in Istanbul after tipping near Izmit for Harrier Express in '95. The later pics show the Eurostar 420 (with Twin-splitter 'box) I drove on Astran work for Jeff Welton, seen variously here in Jordan, Turkey and Greece on the way back from Doha, Qatar in December 2001.
