Those convoys normally carry nuclear warheads for the trident submarines based at faslane, …
On the bright side these convoys would stop if the Gov had any balls they’d skip all the Trident stuff including the jobs etc into England to shut the anti trident SNP whiners up.
I suppose the upside is no one really cares if a warhead goes pop in Faslane it’s too far from Westminster to matter
Saw the biggest army convoy I have ever seen today.
Lots of armoured police vans. Had its own fire engine in support. 2 wreckers and 3 spare tractor units.
When I saw the first police ■■■■■■ I just thought he looks lost (local plod got bmws) then realised it had no constabulary plate. Just a silver v70 with orange rear flashers. (■■■■■■ spec lights) as well as normal blues.
The kit looked nice in green.
Bit of a shock to see it on an a road. Assume going to barracks nr by for a break.

Well as an SNP ‘whiner’ I’ll quite happily send the base and the jobs into England. If you bothered to read the leaked report that came out yesterday you’d soon want them sent elsewhere.

have a read on what it takes for a warhead to “go pop” its not just a case of lighting a match or dropping it somewhere. There is a reason it has taken a number of years to develop one that can be used. only 8 countries in the world have them (9 if you count israel)
Just out of interest Maga, when the Hydrogen Bombs that were dropped just off Spain after the B52 + tanker crash many years ago were recovered, and they were 25 Megaton bombs, which are VERY BIG bombs indeed, the fireball is 9 miles wide !! when one of the weapons techs examined one he found that out of 4 safety interlocks 3 had closed he said "we nearly lost Spain, and promptly fainted.

Moron.
I’ve just been reading a book about the USS Nebraska, a boat carrying Trident missiles. The whole launch process is very complex evolution and no one man can initiate it, let alone some stupid terrorist.
If the nuclear boats went from Faslane, the base itself would shut along with all the jobs. Do you really want that? If Scotland goes it’s own way the Clyde ship yards would shut too. No more orders from down south…

Where did you hear that the RDC driver waiting room?

Would of been m6/m55 615 ish.
That’s the warhead convoy, wobetide anyone who gets in its way
I overtook the nuclear convoy on a motorway some years ago. I did wonder why the artic trailers has such massive rear bumpers, concluding that rear ending one of those wasn’t going to be pretty. I assumed some sort of munitions were involved.
I’ve been to aldermaston. I drove for a haulier that had a contract with an auction company that bought ex mil stuff and auctioned it. I was sent to aldermaston to pick up scientific steel work tables, measuring devices and a bunch of other gizmos. I was quite disappointed. When I went there, I had a mini interview at the gatehouse to show ID (driving licence) and give name, respond to questions that I was a UK born and bred original. While I was sitting in the plastic gatehouse spilling my family name, men scoured the lorry with mirrors on broom handles, whilst Alsatians sniffed the tyres (probably my pee from previous night in layby).
I was given a map of where to go and a Geiger alarm. If that went off you had to proceed to some sort of meeting point. No mention of speed limits/high biz being buttoned up/ one way systems/ Handing keys in/shunters rules etc. This was poor compared to an RDC. A nuclear weapons testing facility should visit Koon and Nigel and learn a thing or two about over the top health and safety.
I was also given an ■■■■■■ that was installed into the passenger seat. A military looking sort in black pyjamas and rifle who seemed happy for the excitement of leaving guard duty. To drive round aldermaston you’d think you were on any industrial estate. Loading the science gear was a nightmare on a 45foot curtainsider as they had no forklift and no idea about lorries. So it was left to me to handball it all on with assistance and strap what I could down. I didn’t see James bond doing parachute rolls across the grass, pistol in hand. Quite disappointed. The more interesting places I visited were army. The most interesting Portsmouth Naval yard.

Drivers were RAF as were police, wrecker mechanics and firemen.
The police vans used to be full of Royal Marines.
Not sure if anything has changed.

“The first weapon to be discovered was found nearly intact. However, the conventional explosives from the other two bombs that fell on land detonated without setting off a nuclear explosion (akin to a dirty bomb explosion). This ignited the pyrophoric plutonium, producing a cloud that was dispersed by a 30-knot wind. A total of 260 ha (2 square kilometres (0.8 sq mi)) was contaminated with radioactive material. This included residential areas, farmland (especially tomato farms) and woods.[20]”
