Redundantcy i think on the 12th of jan, company lost contract and new one has come in and is going to ■■■■■ wages and no nights out,and want us to drive to head office which for me is 50 miles round trip aday(instead of 3 miles where trucks parked now).because new company is doing work differently to how we are at mo we are not covered under tupe according to them,so do i trust them or take me monies and run and try pastures new.
I’m a london bus driver.
Ive changend companies and start early jan.
Gonna get my nut down and work my way up the management ladder, had enough of the public!!
wife would like me to move elsewhere but i’m happy at work. no hassle, no backstabbing, reasonable pay. clean wagons, only thing that irks me is paid every 2 weeks. get used to it but prefer weekly pay. only 24mile round trip from house as well. late start/late finish which peeves her off.(don’t blame wife). not much work where we are at moment so grin and bear it for a bit longer.just glad to have a wage!
I am changing employers on the second of jan, going from running to tilbury every day to running abroad. Should be a better laugh causing havoc abroad
Hopefully might be back doing Euro work…
Should be interesting…seeing if i can remember how to do it!
Staying put, got 47 years till i can retire so may as well start building that pension up
I’m getting my private hire licence as my mate has a couple of taxi minibuses and has offered me a drive…doing part time to start with but will see how it goes and see wether I can do without part time office work and part time living in a box across Europe…

You won’t do that by paying anything into one… The whole pension industry is stealing the money on a daily basis!

Gonna keep my eyes peeled for ADR work but in no real hurry at the moment, just bored where i am.Why are you intent on ADR ? It’s a lot more hassle and no extra money ! (speaking from experience)

Staying put. I’m on a good number so I’m sticking with it until it gets ruined.

if I were you I would keep the job and get rid of the nagging wife
I’m being TUPE’d from one company to another.
The signs are not good but it’s a job and the pay is good for this area and what we do, (mainly night-trunking), but whether the new firm will honour our terms and conditions is another matter. I feel a fight is looming over the horizon.
I applied for another job, still like the job I’ve got but these type of jobs don’t come up everyday, so just making sure I haven’t missed a really good one.
Hopefully I’ve got a meeting with the boss at the start of the year as well, so I can sort a few things and if not then maybe I’ll have an alternative.
Ill be staying put for sure. Done just over a year as an owner driver and having just sat down with my accountant to discuss my year end, I’m pleased to say I’ve made a tidy looking profit and long may it continue!!
All the best for 2013 ladies and gentlemen!!
Matt

And then going for my C+E next year then taking it from there.
Exactly that.
Fed up of nightwork but have to stay put as not many class2 jobs out there paying £530 a week
Petrol is stinging me at £40 a week tho so i will keep my eyes open for something local that pays around £50 a week less but don’t think it will be easy to match my current salary
Been on UK only for last 3yrs, was only meant to be short term , would go back on for the Belgians or Dutch tomorow if they paid what they did a few years ago, but the Easties have buggered that. I will leave if or when something better paid turns up, but can not see the point in taking a side step to a similar job/same crap, which is all thats going at the moment, it would have to be a step up, better the devil you know and all that
this year after doing this for 15 years now, im starting training and will be moving out for HGV driving for good. as much as i enjoy the job im fed up with the pay, lack of respect for us drivers and the hassle. so im leaving at the young age of 33 !!

Currently looking but not sure what for yet.
Just rented half of the farm out, so its now more of a hobby farm and can be done in my spare time. The railway work that I do should start to pick up again, but its mainly weekends. Just told my current agency that I’m not going to do much for them, mainly as they pay a flat rate regardless of time of day.
I do have a couple of applications in at 2 companies, 1 as a casual, and 1 as a full time. I’m not wanting to give the railway work up, as its very easy money, and should be getting trained up in the cranes this year, and the ticket is valid for normal work too.
Will just see what comes up, in no real ruch at the minute, as have a good paycheque coming soon for all the christmas work I have done
